Different people will have varying degrees of what they think is "right" for your car. The best thing you can do is read the different opinions, read your manual, and read what you can on the Internet and then make a decision that *YOU* can live with.

If you can live with driving it 1200 miles under 4k, good for you (and maybe good for your car!), which is what your manual says.

Personally, I drove the car during break-in like I do normally. I don't "redline" or drive like an animal, but certainly venture above 4k RPMs regularly. If my car is going to take 100k miles of me driving it that way, I figured it can take the first 1200 that way as well.
