ridiculous question

Hey guys,

I'm a huge fan of the 370Z. I'm crazy about them. Beautiful cars wit more horsepower than those ugly Mustang GTs :P I am currently in college and work at a chick-fil-a so money is not coming in abundance right now. I have a piece 88 trans am right now and i really need a new car. I was wondering, i know a guy who got a truck bought for him buy a performancing tuning company as long as he advertised for them. i was gonna ask if you guys knew any possible way i could do something like that? or any other ideas i can get my hands on a Z without paying the 30K i don't have. this might be a dumb question but its kinda my only hope to get the car of my dreams, at least for the next 10 years or so.

Red__Zed 09-07-2010 09:23 PM

:drama:

Nismo99 09-07-2010 09:24 PM

haha Dan im guessing this was a wasted post huh?

Cjanik 09-07-2010 09:30 PM

If i could get my 370z paid for me, i'd have done it by now!

Trips 09-07-2010 09:34 PM

Well, at least the title was right!

Dembflyr 09-07-2010 09:35 PM

At least you did say yourself that it was a ridiculous question.

To be serious with you, I can only imagine that that story you heard was only partially true.

I have heard of people getting large discounts on parts because they go to every show, cruise night and any other function. But even those are few and far between.

Another way to get parts for cheaper is to work for a shop that sells performance parts. When I was younger I worked as a car audio installer. I always had the best equipment in my car because I got such a deal on it.

You could always play the lottery. You'll have a better chance with that.

frost 09-07-2010 09:36 PM

You know how pimp an 88 trans am could be? I'd rock the shit out of one of those.

Nismo99 09-07-2010 09:39 PM

sorry guys, just wishful thinking. and frost my car is in pretty good condition for its age. it just has a 5.7 that sucks gas like crazy. And the AC goes out kind of often. I just want something newer and more luxurious. Idrove a Z today for the first time ever and it was orgasmic.

elm_tx 09-07-2010 09:40 PM

Grow up kid. You deserve what you earn. This is speaking from a lifetime of experience. There have been cars I dreamed of for years, I saved, got better jobs, got promotions and slowly but surely, I owned those cars. I'm currently driving a 2 week old 2010 NISMO, been wanting this girl for a Year. Before her I finally got a 95 300Z, wanted that car for years before it was possible.

If you wait and build up to it, you will appreciate it all the more. It sucks waiting, but in the end there is a sense of accomplishment or "Look what I finally did!!!".

For the folks that can pay cash for the car, lucky them. Work for it bud, that's the real answer. imho this is not meant as a slam, but you just need to exercise patience with life.

Yep, ridiculous question. 'nuff said.

6spd 09-07-2010 09:45 PM

ditto

Nismo99 09-07-2010 09:46 PM

i do know people that have had cars bought for them that way, and yes i know it was stupid to say all of that. thats why i got ready for all the slamming, just hoping someone could help out or knew of anything like that mentioned above, i appreciate the advice but the slamming was uncalled for

Trips 09-07-2010 09:49 PM

Welcome! :hello:

spearfish25 09-07-2010 09:51 PM

There is a sweepstakes for a Nismo 370Z. I'd enter that and hope for the best.

It's over and I'm going to win it.

OP. I understand your dreaming, but straight up, you can't afford this car. Even if you were able to get a free car, there are major expenses involved in owning something like this.
Work your way into life a little bit more so that you aren't a slave to the finances of a car

NYBladeZ 09-07-2010 10:31 PM

Hey guys cut the kid some slack he's a college boy who clearly should be paying more attention to his books than dealing with some of us trolls ;). Dude, the 370z will be around forever. If you don't buy one new now one day you'll be able to afford a pre owned one for pretty damn cheap depending on how long it is. Its likely you'll go crazy for numerous cars even before you're out of college. For me it was the 2004 Mustang Cobra but hell I lucked out, I paid my dues and did what I had to do to get my Z.

Don't take what some of the trolls on here take personally, many of us had to work many many hours and continue to do so just to get our Z's.

Education will eventually get you what you want. Hell if I was you I'd be out chasing tail on a college campus in TEXAS! Find yourself some cowgirls (the Dallas Cowboy type not the Houston Texan type blah) and get laid, you're more likely to remember that than a Z you were into.

red6spd 09-07-2010 11:44 PM

How many miles you got on the Trans Am? I heard if you get your GM to hit 1 million miles and get it on tape GM will give you a free ZR1. THEN YOU WILL BE ZR1 MAN!!!!!!!!!!!! Not a Z but a nice car none the less.

Working at chic-fil-a, this is the best advice thus far. Even if you got a free Z :icon14: , this is not the cheapest car to insure, register, fill up with gas, maintain,etc-etc. Enjoy what you have now, when you get older I guarantee you will miss it.

jaedub 09-08-2010 02:01 AM

you can buy a used 370z for maybe 35k.

Or a new one for less..........

Cmike2780 09-08-2010 03:47 PM

You'll appreciate it more if you earn it and you have plenty of time to save up. Just pray the world doesn't end in 2012:p

ChrisSlicks 09-08-2010 04:20 PM

Buy a old Civic and rock that piece-o-crap until you are earning some real money. It's pointless putting all of your income into a car when the money could be better spent. I drove $2000 cars for many years even after graduating until I got a few good raises, was making good money and had paid off all my debts.

1. Steal one (not mine, please).

2. Find a rich widow who really likes chicken strips and is willing to spoil her boy toys.

3. Wait until 2011 models come out and buy a used 2009, which should be closer to 25K (or wait until 2012, etc... repeat until you can afford one...)

4. Other than the above suggestions, no.

Nismo99 09-08-2010 09:20 PM

Guys thanks for all the advice. I was just dreaming. And yes, there are plaenty of beautiful girls in Texas. I think i will buy a used 350 one day in the near future after i sell my Trans Am. I actually got a new job and I should be making about 4,500 a month and I'm a single guy so maybe it will come sooner than expected. once again, thanks fellas.

hdskull 09-08-2010 10:02 PM

Just make sure you plan out the $ you have to pay for insurance, gas, maintenance, mods(if applicable).

CWofRR 09-08-2010 10:02 PM

Take elms advice, cause its a really good one. stick with school, get through and get a good job. then you can buy the z of your dreams.[=

Nismo99 09-08-2010 10:07 PM

trust me, the maintanence will be less on what i pay on my TA. and gas isn't an isssue. I live 10 minutes from school. 30 seconds from work and about 5 minutes from church. I will have a Z in the next year, im sure of it.

Wow, that was quick. Just yesterday you were working at a chick-fil-a. Is that $4,500 before taxes? If it's after, then you can def afford it depending on other expenses. If that's after, save as much as you can for the down payment & you will have a Z of your own in no time. Good Luck & Welcome to the forum!

Nismo99 09-08-2010 10:55 PM

i took a test today to be licensed to sell life insurance. I've been debating on it. Its not gonna be a 40 hr a week job like chick-fil-a, but the income will be better in the end. I had a chance to get promoted at CFA but the pay just doesn't cut it. I've been debating the insurance thing for awhile. I prayed about it and took action. you guys are pretty legit. Have a good night. And i will still be at chick fil a for awhile. I cant quit cold turkeym the manager is my best friend and i gotta be certain ill mnake money in insurance. If anyone is ever in longview texas, stop by the chick-fil-a on 4th street and the east loop/ ill hook you up :)

shoopajae10 09-08-2010 11:20 PM

:icon17:Is that really all it takes to get in your car....chicken strips!?

I can picture the conversation:

fries= "hellz no!"

chicken nuggets= "gtfo"

chicken strips= "get in"

chicken sandwhich: "you wanna drive?"

I almost wound up going to school in Longview.

BTW-- the insurance stuff isn't for everyone. You won't make nearly as much as they promise you. Don't quit your job at CFA just yet...
