I would suggest you set some goals, save some cash and always look for ways to improve your situation and you'll get your dream car.. If that dont work ,Pimp yourself out..LOL.. Just joking on the last part...

Wow, some of you guys are just plain rude. I know this is the Internet and it's easy to be rude, but the OP was being humble. You guys are acting like owning a $30k car means you're important. Good job, you own something that's expensive as an optioned out Camry.

To the OP, be sure you have a strong base before you spend money on a car. It's a depreciating asset, and mostly for fun. As sad as it sounds fun shouldn't be your first priority. Also, be wary of sales/commission jobs. You won't always make as much as you think.

The point is not that we're talking about a car that is worth $30k+, but that he wants it for free. Nothing in life is free, and if you start out in life thinking that you should be able to get it for free, that's just not a good thing... :shakes head:

On the other hand, the second half of your post is a valid concern. But again, he didn't start this thread by stating he wanted to BUY a car.

shoopajae10 09-10-2010 01:22 PM

I bought a 30k car on my own so im feeling somewhat important.

This.

Plus I hear on a certain 350Z forum that the 350Z is actually faster, lighter, and out-handles the gaudy 370Z anyways!

Make sure you get a 2004.5.

It's a unicorn man. Even if you find it, it doesn't sell for less than $250k.

I'm not sure but I believe that is the only year (and a half) that they let Mazda design the doors for them.

I wasn't taking any comments as rude, like I said, it was a ridiculous question. I was just wondering if there was anyway I could get a car that I couldn't afford, but after reading some wise posts I agree that I would appreciate it more after ppurchasing the car myself. I'll have a Z soon you guys. And as far as insurance goes, I'm working for a financial services company called Primerica. Its a legit company and its not a scam considering they are on the NYSE and DOW. Trust me, my mom is the CEO of Accounting at the second biggest hospital in Texas and she approves.

Good Luck with the job, I'm sure we all look forward to seeing pictures of your first new Z. Once you get it, you'll always have a smile on your face as you're driving down the road!!! :tiphat:

craniac24 09-12-2010 05:00 PM

LOL...Primerica is such an awful company. They'll hire absolutely anyone, and 95% of the people that work there quit within the first year. Do you really think anyone is going to buy insurance or securities from a kid like yourself?

Lug 09-12-2010 05:18 PM

I'd just like to point out that I'm over 50 years old, work for a Fortune 500 company for over a decade, am college educated and my main ride is a 99 Expedition. The 350Z in my sig is actually my wife's who allows me to valet park it on occation if I really really "perform" well. Can someone help me out with a new car here?

There is absolutely zero chance you will be making anything close to that selling insurance for Primerica. The only smart thing you've said in this thread so far is that you're holding onto your job at Chick-Fil-A. You will most certainly need it.

shoopajae10 09-12-2010 05:51 PM

damn primerica is still around to get ya.

to be honest with you... id stick with chick fil a and try to get management spot and make more money than going with primerica and screwing up your chance of owning a 370z.

dont waste your time and money.

+1. I've known tons of people who wasted time trying to work there...

KillerBee370 09-12-2010 07:56 PM

It's just part of life dude. Do you know how many f'd up beaters I drove when I was your age?

Money doesn't grow on trees. If it did I would have an Aston Martin DBS sitting next to my Z in the driveway.

You gotta pay your dues (or win the lotto)

ANY BS "network" marketing company is going to be a waste of time unless YOU STARTED IT. Because that's the ONLY person making money at it. Take it from me.

There's no shortcuts. Trust me.

Nismo99 09-12-2010 11:47 PM

i know plenty of people that would buy insurance from me. As a matter of fact, I have a list of about 10 or 11 people that will. Thats out of the 15 people that I made apppointments with but I'll take that percentage anyday. Trust me, when you see how crappy Cash Value insurance is compared to term, and how much money you could save in a year, you would too. I'm not some average kid. I graduated salutitorian and finished my first year at UT Tyler with a 3.7 GPA majoring in Kinesiology and Business Management. I'm not unintelligent, I promise ya. Also, for those of you doubting Primerica, maybe its not for me and maybe its not the right decision to make but I'm willing to try. My best friend is in it and signed last August. He made 5500 his first month and the lowest he's made a month is 4500. He's brought in as much as 15,500. Thats more than my annual earnings at CFA. If it doesn't work out for me I'll eat my crow and let you say "told ya so". No need for the harsh words though.

*Sigh* I don't know whether it's disheartening or amusing that some 23 year old currently working at Chick-Fil-A is trying to pass himself off as a de-facto authority on Life Insurance. It's probably a little bit of both.

Listen kid. Good luck with Primerica. You're obviously very gung-ho about it, which is good on one hand, but also very strange...since a smart kid like yourself should have done your research. If you did, you would have figured out pretty easily that Primerica is the dregs of all insurance companies. They're bottom feeders...period. The people that buy their products are suckers, and the people that get recruited to work there are even bigger suckers.

Nismo99 09-13-2010 12:03 AM

Well I guess I'm a sucker. I would very much like to know where these stats are coming from? Oh and by the way, I'm 20. I finished my college in 2 years. Like I said, I'm not as uneducated as you may think. I have a degree in management, and I'm working to get my Masters. IF this doesn't work I will have wasted 100 dollars and a few hours of my life. If it doesn't I'll go coach basketball at a high school and teach Biology or go manage a business. Either way it's not like my future will be ruined by this decision.

shoopajae10 09-13-2010 12:43 AM

is this a joke or something?

He could always try Amway. It's the same concept...and people are much more likely to buy household supplies from a 20 year old than Life Insurance. :icon17:

You're trying to finance a car and go to school for a master's degree by working at a bottom feeder insurance company that promises much, but delivers little. It also seems like you're following all of your 'best friends', who I now think works as the manager for your CFA branch, as well as Primerica, which is kinda weird.

I gotta admit, I laughed when I read your 'If it doesn't work' section. Coaching basketball at a high school vs. managing a business, wow what a way to go through the spectrum...hope you're not thinking of financing all of your dreams with a coaching job!

Anyway, tl;dr version, getting a 370Z in your current state is a bad idea. Keep the TA, make absofuckinglutely sure the insurance thing works out in your favor; if it does then all the power to you. But at least if it doesn't, you'll still have your CFA job, and you won't be neck deep in debt.

Red__Zed 09-13-2010 12:36 PM

This has been addressed more thoroughly than I have the patience for...

Primerica Financial Services...BE WARNED AND INFORMED

The company has a multiple commission structure, and is basically a legal pyramid scheme.

Very strange thread!

I bought my Z at 28, now I am 29.

But I didn't have a car, any car, until then. After 10 years of school, with a Ph.D. degree, I finally bought a Z!

It takes time, patience, no shortcuts...
