Default Don't remove the undertray!

Having installed an oil-cooler last week, I was considering keeping the undertray off to better inspect the lines and connections for leaks. With the undertray off, the front fascia is very unstable. The undertray plays a big part in fixing the lower fascia edge. So, for everyone considering undertray removal for whatever reason, strongly reconsider before you do any driving/lapping. We don't need any catastrophic fascia removal stories!

Plus it's an Aero aid. Seems the whole front end is held on by plastic clips

After I performed my last oil change I decided to leave the undertray off. Big mistake. I pulled up to close to a parking block and went over with the front end. When I went to back off, it ripped half the front fascia off. There wasn't any real visible damage when I popped it back into place but lesson learned for sure!! Those screws underneath really do provide stability to that fascia!

Thanks for posting this. I had thought about leaving the tray off after the last oil change too. Glad I put it back.

Reminds me of my 07 Civic Si. That thing was literally held together with push tabs, double sided tape, and zip ties.

Maybe the front license plate holder secretly holds something together and we just don't know it yet. Still not going to put it on.

It's probably fine for normal driving around but it definitely serves a purpose and provides much added stability. Since you're driving the car you wouldn't notice but I wonder what it looks like at say 80 or 90 mph outside the car?

All I'm saying is, don't get too close to any parking blocks etc.
