And yes, you’re wearing down your car faster constantly ragging it out. There is no particular rpm per say you must shift at, just use common sense. Learn how to down shift if you want immediate acceleration.

If you dont care about reliability or longevity then you can redline it every time. What everyone is saying is that it is not ideal to do that to the engine EVERY single shift. Its fun and everyone does it once in a while but it puts some wear on the engine as well. Now for cruising on the highway in 4th there is no good reason to do that. Its not like anyone can really hear the exhaust when your cruising going 70.
