Bizarre Z Owner

Every now and then I get a little compliment for my Z or have a chat with other car enthusiast about the car's inner workings and specs.

I also always wave to or say hello to other Z owners, and I have had great positive responses from them... until yesterday.

I drove to a nearby town and parked the car across the road from a coffee shop. When I crossed the road I saw a 350z parked in front of the shop. The car was in great shape, clean, well maintained so I figured the owner must be a Z lover too. As I was getting closer I saw the owner and his girlfriend (I think) come out of the shop and I just said:

"Hello! Love your car, how long have you had it? It is in great shape!"

He then said, (and I am trying to quote him as well as I remember):

"yeah, thats because I don't waste time bothering other people about their car, if you did the same maybe then you can afford one"

Needless to say, I was shocked, I nearly fell over. I didn't know what to say, so I just took out my keys, locked the car again which made a little horn sounds, he saw my car and then I went into the coffee shop.

:shakes head:

shabarivas 07-15-2010 01:01 PM

Thanks for your support guys,

Even though I should not care, his reaction and the look of disgust on his face, really upset me!

PS: The girl was pretty, which is all the more shame to be with such an *******. I didn't look at her, but I think she was embarrassed.

xiven 07-15-2010 01:05 PM

She should be. That guy's a prick.

xiven 07-15-2010 01:06 PM

i find that 350's like to park nearby or next to me. thats ok, they can do that all they want. it just makes my car look that much better than theirs.

shadoquad 07-15-2010 01:09 PM

I just think that's the difference between posers and enthusiasts. When I see enthusiasts in 370's and 350's, the wave comes out.

When you see some prick poser who's too cool for school, you get that kind of reaction. Then it's time to let them know that it's a Nissan, not a lambo.

Some people crack me up.

Cmike2780 07-15-2010 01:23 PM

Honk the horn & give him a wave if spot him again. Nothings more fun than knocking
a-holes down a peg or two.

Stuff you should have said after locking your car (feel free to add):
"maybe someday you can afford one too"

lol, I was in shock! I am surprised I did anything at all!

Red370 07-15-2010 01:48 PM

I would have told him to phuck off, proceeded to ask his girlfriend if she needed a ride, then fight mode would have kicked in and I would have melted his face, some dude has the blatant balls to be disrespectful in such a manner, then hes got the balls to meet a left and a right.

CBRich 07-15-2010 02:09 PM

People like this should be thankful that their parents co-signed on their loan. Maybe one day he could afford a house or a retirement fund.

Matt 07-15-2010 02:26 PM

So far we've assumed he's a young guy and that his parents cosigned his loan. Any other blanket, stereotypical generalizations we'd like to make? Perhaps we can assume he also prefers text messaging to smoke signals?

Sorry to hear about that OP.

Cunnos 07-15-2010 02:29 PM

i would have picked up a rock and tossed it up in the air over his hood, the guy would have screamed like a lil bliatch that he is, looked like an idiot, and most likely would have landed on his hood trying to catch the rock. Then I would have asked his chick if she wants a ride and if she was DTF. but thats just me........

Zsteve 07-15-2010 02:29 PM

370Z>350Z yea baby

Or "someday you can get a girl worth getting into my car"

God forbid somebody get a cosigner while they're already approved just to save money on interest. Keeping yourself from throwing away thousands of dollars on nothing is so fiscally irresponsible. The only time there is no merit on behalf of either party is when a parent cosigns for a kid who can't actually afford the car. Is that what you were trying to imply?

:ugh2:

Yes, you're quite likely correct for this particular situation, but comments like the ones you made above are simply inane.

You once insulted me for being "ignorant" for defending our own cars against a ******* Hyundai - quite ironic I think, considering the kind of blanket statements you like to throw down.

Waiz 07-15-2010 02:46 PM

I apologize on behalf of the 350z community.

LOL

Doesn't sound like the tool was an enthusiast anyway so you got him good. :tiphat:

You're not a real enthusiast unless you paid for the car in $1 dollar bills.

xiven 07-15-2010 02:52 PM

dolla dolla bills yo

NewlyIMPORTed 07-15-2010 02:52 PM

But on a serious note, good on the OP for showing this *******...

However, realize that many of us could find ourselves acting the same way toward a Civic owner if we're already having a bad day. Hell, anybody who owns a nice car under a certain age is subject to all kinds of unfair stereotyping and labeling. But the example in this thread is truly deserving of those stereotypes. :shakes head:

Jeffblue 07-15-2010 02:54 PM

its not your fault, you didn't realize... the arrogant douche bag wasn't driving his 3 series that day, so you didn't realize he was a c0ck

I love true stereotypes...

BMW 3 series are a plague. If their owners really understood how underperformant their cars are for the price they paid for them, their brains would probably explode. The 335 is nice, though... but for every 335 I see, I see a dozen 325's, 328's, or 330's. Mostly being driven by wannabe racers who think they are exempt from using turn signals. Or women who appear to be trophy wives.

There are some people who work very hard just to afford an entry-level BMW, but those examples are very rare in suburban America.

I bow to your 230 BHP that cost you $33k, Mr. 3 Series Driver. :tiphat:

They guy wasn't a very young guy, maybe in his late 20's. Or a very young looking 30 year old.

"More than you can afford pal... Ferrari."
