The insurance company was obligated to repair the damage and replace the cover. If you contact the insurance adjuster, they would probably authorize the dealer to refund the money to you upon return of the new cover. You do not achieve betterment in this deal. You either keep the new cover, or return the new cover and receive a refund to recoup the value of the original cover that was damaged
