Thunder,lightening, and an oil warning screen

While driving on the Pa. Turnpike last night during a downpour and violent thunderstorm, something strange happened. Normally I have my info screen on "miles remaining". Suddenly on its own

Turnpike last night during a downpour and violent thunderstorm, something strange happened. Normally I have my info screen on "miles remaining". Suddenly on its own the screen changed to "Check oil Warning" I got off the next exit and the oil checked fine. Could the electrical storm or heavy rain have caused a malfunction?
