It's always on. Really smooth shifts. Coolest sound ever.

I dont have SRS (base model). If I did I wouldn't use it. I love to Heel to Toe. Guess because it's just really easy for me. Keeps you honest.

It's an awesome feature. And it's great that Nissan made it so if you prefer to heel/toe, or simply don't like it, you can just turn it off.

Mine is off mostly, but if I feel like some spirited/challenging driving ahead I turn it on. Other applications include a twisty road or a demonstrate to a passenger.

Off.... the auto uprev actually uses more gas... plus, I know how to shift. LoL....

For the first year or few months (can't remember anymore), I used to keep the SRM off most of the time and only turn it on weekends. It kept me honest but after a while I just didn't care and left it on 24/7. :icon17:

Mikes350z 01-24-2012 09:12 PM

on the first few weeks I had the car but it scarred me haha... so since then have had it off and love it. Keeps you honest and on your game, nothing feels better then a well executed down/upshift and a heel-toe shift when down shifting.

seems like however if i would put it back on now and use it, probably would love it... but i find myself driving a lot of other MT cars other then my personal Z i.e. friends mustands, bmws, all that and they dont have SRM so gotta stay on my game to look good to the guys... otherwise :eekdance:

when im not lazy, i actually heel toe coming to every stop light, when lazy, its ON!

Shamu 01-25-2012 12:43 AM

I have driven Porsche race cars for past decade. I'm pretty good at heel toe downshifts. It's really an art form.

I don't drive the Z without synchro rev match. Even best heel toe driver can't match the efficiency of this cool feature. I love taking my track buddies out in the car with rev match.

Only people who won't use it are those who think they will forget how to heel toe or true heel toe artists,

LMBmikeZ 01-25-2012 10:32 AM

I was under the impression that the SRM is only for the down shifts. I think it has nothing to do with up shifts.

So I can't vote on this one but I think it doesn't matter if I chip in.

The technology behind the SRM is amazing, however, the more you use the SRM, the more you will depends on it, at least that's what I feel after reading the 4 pages of this thread.

And, the more you depends on it, the more rusty on your heel-toe.

But hey, aren't heel-toe the best part of driving a stick-shift??

Doesn't trying to do heel-toe at your best give you the most pride??

Doesn't it make you feel better if you tell yourself "Man, I can heel-toe like a pro... yea." ???

Maybe I am a bit old-school thinking or stubborn :icon18:

But how can I let the electronic 'kill' the 'art' of driving a stick-shift.

That's why I didn't even bother to think about the sports-package when I order the Z: I will choose a set of 19 with the style I like, I won't track the Z so the sports-brake is not within my concern, and the SRM... you heard what I said. LOL

Just my $0.02, of course, you like it, use it!! But let your heel do some exercise sometimes. LOL

Very good point, obviously some people take pride in driving, but some take it to the extreme. I just find it a little ridiculous when some who do have it say "I have SRM but have not and will not ever use it." It's not like you lose man points for using it:rofl2:. Anyway, if you've never used it, I would encourage you to at least try it. Its pretty amazing how bang on perfect it is every time.

It's no gimic and it really works. A Nissan innovation that others will follow

There should be another poll:

Of those of you that say "off" how many of you are lying so you can look like a heel-toe hero?:

-i am over 30 and can honestly heel toe with the best
-i am lying to look like a true enthusiast
