Took my Z to the strip and learned that I have no clue what I'm doing. First run I got red lighted. Not sure how since I didn't leave till the third light went out. My buddy says he think it is cause I rolled backwards (the strip is up hill). Second run I try holding it by slipping the clutch. That was not such a great idea, when i took off i believe it had heated up and when i shifted to second it slipped horribly. The third and final run I used the e-brake to hold me and dropped it as I let off the clutch. All three launches were horrible, way to much wheel spin. This was my first time ever so it was definately a learning experience and my times did improve slightly. I think next time I may try leaving traction control on though. Here is probably the worst time slip ever on this forum with a 370: RT: 1.345 60': 4.184 Speed: 69.87 660': 13.124 Speed: 92.70 ET: 18.470 I need to learn how to get off the line. The guy beside me ran a 15.968 at 88.5 so with the speed I should have at least been low 15s. Guess I need to get more practice.

why don't you preload by holding the ebrake so you don't roll backwards?

Skeeterbop 10-22-2011 01:30 AM

I did on the my final run, it was much better. My clutch didn't get heated up and i didn't roll backwards either. I posted a thread in the drag strip area looking for some suggestions. The parking brake was suggested by a guy in a NISMO 350, he seemed pretty cool. He did walk away from me on that second run when my clutch slipped though :(

skeeter- practice makes perfect. Don't worry about it. Now you know wat not to do and that in itself was valuable experience. :)

Pulling out my Z in 30. :p

Greetings, Mr. Kenchan :tiphat:

hello, mr.onzedge! have you been a good mr. onzedge today? :icon17:

took my kid to school in my Z this am, dropped him off. from there enjoyed a nice 1.3hrs of motoring. :p on the way home filler her up, sweeped her room (had leaves on the garage floor under her) and quick QD on the front surfaces.

...and now doing chores and prepping for supper. will pickup my kid later this pm in my G.

Did a full waterless car wash today. We're still under water restrictions here.

Honestly, once you get comfortable doing it and understand where to start and when to change towels it's not bad at all. I always follow-up with a good shot of spray-on wax. I'll probably hit it again with another coat of Griot's Best of Show wax tomorrow.

Got my EVO-R foglight mounted this morning. Lucked out on the two bolts everyone dreads as mine came right off with a socket wrench. Still need to wire it, but I'm waiting for some interior trim tools to come in from Harbor Freight.

Tried my hand with Di-Noc for the first time. You definitely need to practice with it, but it's got serious potential. I did the center HVAC/Radio panel. Came out okay, but needs to be redone. I just don't have the patience for it today.

May dye my interior stitching tomorrow. Depends on how hot/muggy it is tomorrow.

I'm totally whipped from an all day house project yesterday, so my car projects are probably done for the day.

Enjoy your weekend all.

Mike

I received a lot of compliments on my Z yesterday. From flag guys on the side of the road giving me thumbs up to little kids screaming "nice car!!!" Its funny, I commented in a post a week or so ago stating that nobody has ever refered to my car as "cute". Well I drove my Z to a hot tub delivery yesterday cause the customers were super close to my house so I was gonna go straight home from the job. The woman came out and said "oh my what a cute little car what is it?" I said a Nissan Z, a 370. She asked if it was older, I laughed. How could you confuse it for an old car?? It looks so "new". Then her little kid got off the bus and freaked out over it, lol I think he thought his folks had just purchased it. Lots of attention yesterday, made me proud to be a Z owner(not that Im ever not proud).

Besides that Im still looking at my Stillen sways and pushing off the install since its such a PITA to jack it up. Car finally goes into the body shop next week to fix the damage from the deer I hit back in August. New hood and front bumper. Itll be nice to have all fresh paint on the nose since my current paint is beyond chipped up.

Picked this up today. Carbotech XP 8's, ARP studs for the front (already had them on the rear), and Redline MT85 transmission fluid. Can't wait to get it on Monday.
