Been putting about 400 miles on it (within the 3 days of owning, and actually being able to drive this car). I can't stop driving it around, I'm obsessed.... Keep finding an excuse to go outside, and drive around some more, LOL. Gonna be broke from gas soon

tungman started this trend of plasti-dipping the nissan burgers and 370Z logo. so i did my first coat. wow this thing stinks (as in smelly)! :icon14: letting it dry 30min before i do my 2nd coat.

alchemy- you're right about the texture. im not sure if i like this texture. it looks like a blobby drippy nozzle spray can look. :icon17:

fire- yah, i think you'll like the matte black. the color itself is nice...but the smell. wow it's like someone jammed tar up my nose. :D hahaha. ;)

Actually living out on LI (Glen Cove). I was driving around brooklyn last night with a friend that lives over in woodside. It's white...

I made the mistake of taking the LIE, i was cringing for like 30 minutes, that construction over there is out of control, I was all paranoid stuff would hit my car.

A quick tip, although Im not sure if it will actually work or not. They say hold it closer when you spray for a less textured look. Further away for more texture. Personally i like the slight texture I have on my fangs and rear valance.

hey thanks for the tip. actually the blobby mess smoothed out itself after the 30min drying time and wasnt bad at all. here's how it looked. i thought it turned out well for the project.

http://www.the370z.com/members/kench...7-30-19-93.jpg

i took this one with me blocking the sun to give you an idea wat it looks like in low light.. it's kind of just a black burger...

http://www.the370z.com/members/kench...7-30-14-52.jpg

i decided that it looked too black and plain for me so removed it. i thought it was well worth the try and it was kinda fun. anyway i proceeded to cleaning up the car and lightly touched the hood with my finger to see if wanted to use my duster as i normally do for cleaning up overspray dust...

the problem with this 'paint' is that it's not really paint... it's black adhesive. the overspray on the car was sticky as if i sprayed rubber cement all over the frikken car (actually cars because my G was also in the garage). :icon14:

let me just say i was f-king pissed. (after my wife made me katsu-don i was :icon17: ) so i pulled out my claybar and QD and started claying the worst areas. some of the reaaal bad areas i just went directly to my RC motor-spray into my MF towel and just wiped it all off as if removing tar. the sticky mess was on all top surfaces... fenders, doors, roof, glass, trunk lid, wing, wheel lip, etc. (not to forget my tool case, my mobile cabinet, detailing cart, etc)

at the end i went through about 20+ towels and about 2hrs of cleaning to get it all off. i SprayOn Waxed the Z to give it some boost. then proceeded to doing the same on my G. the G wasn't nearly as bad but still nothing like paint's overspray dust. this stuff is actually sticky and kinda gooey.

so, for those you thinking about using this product make sure your entire car is clean and use in low dust condition cause this sticky overspray will bond grit and all sorts of crap once it dries onto your paint. that little newspaper cut out with blue painter's tape is NOT going to cut it if you're anal about your car like me.

Alchemy 08-13-2011 09:09 PM

I dont think it looked bad Ken. Sorry removal was a pain in the butt. I think removal may have been easier if u let it dry longer. It took days till my fangs werent tacky when touching them. Your heart desires cf emblems dont it, lol.

kenchan 08-13-2011 09:15 PM

hey thanks alchemy. yah it's really a preference thing. once i took off the black the emblems kinda 'fit' my car better even though the burger is chrome with dark lettering. i guess this looks more natural to me.

the overspray was dry to the touch...and bonded to the paint. normal rattle-can paint over spray (oem matched paint, etc) is just dust. i paint car bits in my garage off and on and never had this happen to me before. :ugh2:
