The WRX is only close to the STI in a straight line

The WRX has better gearing (5-speed vs. 6-speed) for bragging right numbers (0-60 & 1/4 mile)

On a track with turns the STI wipes the flow with the WRX.

There are a lot more differences between the regular WRX and STI than most seem to think.

The STI's transmission a lone is almost reason enough to pay the extra coin.
