That being said, my Z is my only means of transportation, and as a father, i have no qualms about having my son ride in it with me, however, i ensure his seat is anchored properly and that the seat is in the furthest back position so as to not cause injury should for whatever reason an airbag deploy. We're all entitled to our opinions, so i wont respond to some of the naysayers, but it think its no less safe than having a child in the back seat, if the wreck is bad enough, injuries will happen regardless.

Why front facing only
I realize this it is not ideal to put a baby seat of any kind in a sports car but what we know is the 370Z has a weight controlled auto off for the passenger air bag that shuts it off if the passenger is under 80 pounds. My question is that the main concern is if an airbag deploys it could be fatal but why is a front facing car seat OK per the manual and a rear facing seat is not?
The manual states the supplemental front airbag could be fatal. Would this not be the case if the air bag went off if the car seat was facing forward or backwards. My logic tells me in a rare emergency I would need to take my sisters infant with me as long as the airbag does not deploy (Which by design it should not) rear facing or front facing would be OK. Why does the manual say front facing OK Rear Facing Is Not OK? Is it because it wont strap in rear facing correctly? |

Why do I feel like I'm at the range, watching a bunch of guys huddled up trying to figure out why a gun jammed? It's like everybody forgot Tap-Rack-Bang.
Look, the manual of this car (something you should all have read before driving the car) show's how to properly put a baby/child seat in. You tie down as usual, and adjust the seat all the way back. The airbag will turn off, since the kid won't be heavy enough. The airbag light will mark if it's off. Baby seats will have to face forward. Which is perfectly legal in a two-seater car. |

I took it out... Z weight reduction program (and thankfully not part of the safety inspection in VA - yet - but who knows - Obama is still in office.)

You beat me to it. I was gonna have to ask for a source on that one... He sounds like those people that brag about their location (wherever it may be) being the car-theft or meth capital of the world. Misinformation is the perfect word for it.
