Eventually insurance companies will want to know if VDC is on or not, and base their claim fufillment off that minor detail. OP missed an accident. Trucker saw it happening, saw it happen, and probably anticipated the OP shifting lanes to avoid it, which is why he got on the brakes as hard as he did. Might have ticked off the trucker, but, it could have been the trucker that gave the OP the window to evade...
