How does it slide?

I haven't tried it yet, but I was wondering how the 370 slides.

My previous ride was a G35 and on wet roads (VDC off) it was very tail happy, and easy to get into a back and forth oscillation, or if you weren't real careful, a spin.

Anybody been sliding their 370 a little and want to talk about the handling?

Honestly I used to drift in a lot of events but the 370z is one car I haven't done it in yet (on a competitive basis). I'm too broke to afford 19" tires. I've broken it loose a few times and it is very controllable and balanced IMO. You can drift any FR car controllably, it just depends on how used you are to the car and how it handles.

Slide will quickly turn into a spin - it is WAY less forgiving than other cars I've had.

Don't do it anywhere there's a curb or other people.

Controllable, once you get the hang of it, yes. But, if you make a mistake, it will not forgive...

Yeah, that's kind of what I thought.

I think maybe the VDC is going to stay on for a little while.

In some ways a slide is just balancing between control and loss of control. With the Z, it's a very small zone. With every other car I've had, it's a larger area...ie, more forgiving.

The Z will go from slide to spin without hesitation or warning, by comparison.

price of tire is kinda high, but its kinda fun spinning around in the rainy day lol

I can even get a bit of slip/slide out of my vehicle with VDC on, if I do it right... or wrong, heh. The neat thing about the Z is how it will slide a bit, then grip with VDC Off, if you do it just right. Once you get used to it, you can use this to your advantage when taking corners. Not quite drifting, but not quite sliding either. And the momentary loss of control followed immediatly by a hard acceleration sometimes brings a most excellent adrenaline rush. Make sure the road is empty and you have lots of room.

I dont know about the regular but the nismo is one of the easiest cars to slide and get a good angle on the slide.

I had a 04 G sedan (6mt) modded and that car was really fogiving and easy to control during slide. When i had my 335 sedan, one little mistake and it was a spin out. You could get no angle on the BMW and had to be very quick with a steering.

From those 3 Z is as good if not better than the G when it comes to drifting. The more direct steering compare to the G helps you know where and how much you can counter steer.

Yeah, driving around yesterday I did a bit of 4-wheel steering. I didn't even realize it until it was already done...lol

And the funny thing - VDC on, and I wasn't being aggressive...it just decided to throw down something "extra" to make the turn interesting. The only reason I knew it happend was that I made the turn a lot quicker than I thought I should...no slip light either.
