Ive got about 4k to spend on parts, help me figure out what to buy! Please..

If all goes to plan I should be picking up my new PW Z once I return from Vegas in about 2-3 weeks. I have an extra 4grand that I plan on putting into my Z. I’ve been looking at different parts but I want to make sure I get the most bang for my buck. I plan on getting an oil cooler but other than that what parts do you suggest that I buy that will give the best improvement over its stock counterpart. FYI I do not plan on installing coil-overs or springs. Another thing I was considering was installing a test pipe since there are no emissions where I am stationed. The Fast-Intention's complete exhaust install from headers to tips with installation, required tune and a CAI added in comes to a little over $4000. The dynos they have posted to YouTube specific to a 370Z show and overall gain of 21 RWHP and 17 ft-lbs. of Torque.

Cost per HP gained: $191 / 1 HP gained
Cost per TQ gained: $235 / 1 ft-lb. gained

Unless you are adding on a blower or turbo which makes the intake and exhaust mods almost mandatory, the cost per HP/TQ gain FAR SURPASSES any gains to be made with redoing your exhaust. It's absurd and rediculous to spend these figures for such a diminutive return.

Save your money for something else.....

And you missed my entire point completely....I am perfectly aware that doing the blower or TT puts him way out of his money range that he is willing to spend at this moment but that in itself coupled with the outragious intake/exhaust ROI breakdown makes my case even more that the exhaust makeover just shouldn't be done since he would be paying far more than the power he would make out of doing it.

In simple math terms:

Adding just an exhaust isn't going to increase the value of the car in any way, shape or form nor contribute to providing any amount of offset advantage if he is upside-down in any loan he may have on the car at the time of the sell.

You can't argue with the hard numbers because it just plainly SCREAMS for itself that the exhaust makeover is a total rip-off unless he couples it with the blower or TT where then it can at least be dollar-justified by the big power to be gained.

Over here every mod lowers the price of the car. especially forced induction modding.

Exhaust + lth + cai + tuneup are the best ways to increase HP without resorting to modifying the engine itself.

So in the thread abou their exhausts shows 20 just for the CBE doesnt it? So now they are saying other wise?

If you want to remain N/A... Stillen G3 Intake, Fast Intentions Exhaust, HFC, NonStopTuning crank and alternator pulley (with new slightly smaller Gates belt), and a tune. If you can't get dyno tuned, get the Cobb Access Port with competition tune preloaded. Shave some weight off the car while you're at it. I'm pretty sure you can do this for under $4k.

If you plan on force feeding the engine, then save up for a supercharger.
