And the 370 needs more HP to compete with the competition ? What car for 30k gets you 333 hp and low 13 second 1/4 and more than comparable handling ??? Pontiac Solstice ? Saturn Sky ? Hyundai Genesis ? BMW 335 ? Lexus is350 ? (power is there but not for 30K closer to 50 ) Corvette ? Yes, but its a Chevy and still way more money ... Mustang GT? inferior. You want it to compete with the cars priced 45k+ but for 30k... We are lucky it makes the power it does ... The car is rock solid and I love everything about it.. Actually My one change would be put the VLSD in the Base, its an embarrassment to the Z to be a peg leg.. Coming from someone with a base model!!!

1. Power and NM in the form of twin turbo like the old 300zx 2. A real mechanical LSD not a VLSD! 3. Standard rear view camera and sensors 4. No more wet windows 5. A rear hatch that actually pops open on the first press. 5. 19" wheels as standard in Australia from the get go....grrr rant over.

I'm also not basing this on engine only. V8s from Ford, Chevy, and Dodge are also allowed in this game just because they are also sports car at a lower level. And why would the Mustang be inferior? I'll agree with the 2010's Mustang but there is no doubt in my mind that the 2011's might edge the current 370Z. Hence it is important for Nissan, imo, to upgrade to compete and better its opponents. And as for Chevy, I was actually thinking of the Camaro SS. If I can recall correctly, so far, the Camaro has beaten the 370Z (Nismo?) on all of the tracks despite it being a stereotypical straight line performance car. Competition and bragging rights usually stem from performance statistics. It would be harsh for the Camaro SS drivers to say that in a straight, they would beat us AND on the track. What can we say about them? That our car is smaller and is more fun to drive? Sure, maybe for you, but for the general public, people want to see which car is better mostly from a performance/competition standpoint. Quote:

The Z is a good car and in a couple of years it will up its HP just like it has always. Its a cycle all car companies play in.

Bang for the buck means completely different things to different people. My coworker thinks his 100 more hp and torque means the Camaro is better bang for the buck. /shrug

1.) 400 hp is very realistic and they could do it at almost no cost (i did it with different intake, exhaust and reflash, pully etc)
2.) increase cooling ability 3.) make sure sport pkg and nismo have track worthy brakes 4.) could use 30lbs of sound deading in back and lose 75lbs in front to improve weight dist. 5.) paint could be more chip resistant, I added clear bra I love this car and it rides and handles SOOOO nice , I have 21000 miles and loving it. I feel they could make these changes for less than $500 their cost if they wanted to. |

But with nothing more than a slight HP boost, the 370Z will take the camaro in all performance catagories. It will already out-handle, out break, out corner, etc. As far as where to improve the 370Z, adding a bit of power is the best way for nissan to leverage the rest of the car's stunning performance. I agree about different cost catagories (for instance, the vette is probably the best bang for the buck performancewise if you step up to the 50K range), but the Camaro, Mustang, and Challenger are already in the same price area. If you can match their straight line speed and dominate in all other catagories, you get to win every internet argument with their owners!

I've test driven both the 370Z and 2011 Mustang GT Coupe Premium (HID, gears, security, Brembo). The only area where the Z may have an edge is a tight track similar to an autocross. The areas where the Mustang wins out is value/pricing, braking, acceleration, mod potential/bang for the buck gains, practicality (more storage space). |

For everyday daily driving, I'd hands down prefer the Mustang. The 370z has major blind spots, lacks torque, and lacks interior space compared to the Mustang. |
