370Z vs G37S coupe

i know this topic has been beaten to death, but i'm not talking about performance differences here. with a fully loaded 370Z comes in at the similar price as a similar equipped G37S coupe, for those of you cross shopped the two, what made you choose the Z? let's say number of seats isn't the deciding factor here.

Z Heritage

i'm thinking the same way. imo, by offering the sedan version, it actually dilutes the G37 nameplate a bit.

kenchan 03-14-2010 07:39 PM

Post-concept G37coupe was a ID mistake.

Red370 03-14-2010 07:40 PM

If I was 10 years older, the G would have appealed to me, but fortunately im 25 and still have to have my speed fix daily.

shabarivas 03-14-2010 07:42 PM

If number of seats wasnt the issue... and you could live with 2 - I would imagine that the less weight and more agressive handling (assuming the engine is the same :p) will tip you in favor of the Z save for insurance-ish costs etc....

Lemers 03-14-2010 07:42 PM

The G37 is the skyline in the rest of the world. So it has heritage. Basic differences lux vs sporty. It's that simple.

frost 03-14-2010 07:43 PM

Didn't like the looks of the g37 exterior when compared to my previous g35.

Then I guess the decision is made, G37 it is! hahaha, kidding man, buy the Z, you'll feel like you're my age again :rofl2:

Lemers 03-14-2010 07:48 PM

I'm 36 and went if the z. Mid life crisis. No. Great supporting wife? Yes.

CrownR426 03-14-2010 07:52 PM

It depends on what you're looking for.
I choose the z so I can **** on people.
:D

IDZRVIT 03-14-2010 07:53 PM

I like cars with two seats.

That won't change in 10 years (or even 12) Trust me :icon17:

Except that name, Skyline, truly refers to the GT-R (R34 & prior), but today it is for the G coupe.
I picked the Z because I like two seats, and the true sports car.

Skyline is the model and GT-R is the trim for R34s and prior. In Japan when I live there for 3.5 years there were 2 doors and 4 doors base, GT, GTS, GTST, and GT-Rs. The G35 version didn't have a GT-R trim and the current GT-R is finally a separate model from the Skyline.

I think it comes down to wanting a rear shelf to put **** on or even a baby seat.

Sometimes I wish I didn't have that seat since my friends want to pile in it instead of their sedans.

I may have you by ten years and the G does nothing for me, Id go Audi or BMW if I wanted back seats.

Not worth the extra price tag in my opinion. I've owned 2 G's...the 2003 G35 and a 2008 G37 now, both are great cars.

I will say that I do like S5's and I love the M3...but again...not going to shell out $55-60K for an M3.

370Zvetlana 03-15-2010 12:47 AM

The only problem with the 370z is that youll pick up more girls with it then you have seats to put the girls in.... the G attracts, but not like the Z. (i went from G35 to 370 with no regrets so far after a month!)

nogoodname 03-15-2010 12:50 AM

If you depend on a car to attract girls, that's lame...lol

NYBladeZ 03-15-2010 12:52 AM

The larger dimensions make the G a slower and less handling capable car. The Z is a sports car that gives you no excess, the G is meant for those looking for some performance but love aesthetic mods more.

Def not out to attract guys. Though that seems to be inevitable too

Trips 03-15-2010 01:02 AM

Why do we need to compare a 2 seat sports car to a 4 seat sports car?
Keep it Apples to apples.....

its all about how much you have, if you have it you spend it. And they are very good cars. If I hadnt wanted a Z for so long, and they finally made one of good quality, Id be in an Audi still. BuT I know its all a matter of personal preference when it all comes down to it.

Just noticed you're from MTL... cool

Cjanik 03-15-2010 07:57 AM

I'd honestly rather have the G37s, because of the luxury and extra back seat, but I wasn't going to spend an extra 10-13k for a car. 40k was already pushing it!.

i always have this problem...

lucky for me there is a 4 seat 300zx!

you can carry two girls at least with you in the 370z haha.

Red370 03-15-2010 11:02 AM

I've had three in my Z so far, one sitting on ones lap in the front and one laying in the prone position in the hatch lol, ahh to be good looking and drive a hot car, one of lifes simple pleasures..

Horseface 03-15-2010 11:13 AM

The Z looks better than the G. Looking at the Gs and the old 350s now while comparing them to the 370, they look really out of proportion with their longer wheelbases. Sorry, but, yuck.

And the Gs are way too common around here. And more girls seem to drive them. And they're too conservative looking. And that flat back end does nothing for me.

And I'm still not convinced by Japanese luxury cars. Simply swapping out badges and sticking extra gadgets in and softening the ride of another model does not a luxury car make. ;)

If I ever want to go back to 4 seats, I'm going to go German again. :D

Lol... that's funny cuz I been head up with two Z's already n chewed em both up n spit em out. I was in a G (skyline370gt). Sometimes a cars rep can't save you. The driver means so much more than the car on so many levels.
