according to this article... an 09' 370z is quicker than an 09' 370z NISMO??!

the article below doesnt make sense to me...

IL Track Tested: 2009 Nissan Nismo 370Z vs. 2009 Nissan 370Z Touring

how could a 370z with lower hp and torque be quicker than a 370z NISMO?

Its been noted in several articles that the Nismo Z doesn't seem to be putting down its advertised amount of power. All it has is a tuned exhaust and ECU flash. Also, the Nismo is several hundred pounds heavier than the base Sport model.

takes more than just power to outperform. its how you deliver the power that you have. i haven't driven the nismo yet, but it seems to be a little less compliant than the regular z.

oh wow... thats bogus! i wished i knew before i spent an arm and a leg on it! i wonder if Nissan is going to do anything about this.

I would guess the extra weight negates the extra power the Nismo has.

Better off getting a base w/ sports pkg. and doing exhaust and suspension mods.

The NISMO is less than 70 lbs heavier, mostly upgraded handling components. Extra power is deceptive because it seems to be just at the top of the RPM band. Also, most early tests of the nismos have been before the engine has enough milage on it to be broken in. I've suspected the upgraded tires might be a little wonky but don't have any evidence to that effect, it just would explain the difference of the NISMO on paper comnpared to the actual early testing.

2010 Nismo 370Z - Article - Road and Track

"In overview, the Nismo feels — and looks — more like a race car than the stock 370Z, with sharper handling responses and better acceleration"

spearfish25 03-13-2010 06:47 PM

"Believe it, Jerry!" -Kramer

...and plenty of base/sport 370s that put up numbers better than the Nismo were tested before they were fully broken in...

These "base is faster than nismo" threads always go the same direction, a couple sources get posted where the regular Z is faster, the nismo guys call BS without ever posting anything to refute the point. So I say, let's try something different, and no calling BS unless you have something to back it up.
