i bought it because it looked like a race car.

to my eyes, there are only 3 production cars that look like race cars:

a porsche 911 GT3, a lotus exige, and a 370z nismo.

Ferraris and Lamborghinis look beautiful and exotic but they don't look like race cars to me.

since i drive the posted speed limits, the fact that it might be slower than a base 370z doesn't bother me :)

In these threads, there are usually 2 types of people.

The non-nismo owners that want to feel good about not purchasing the Nismo. YAY THE NISMO IS SLOW!

The nismo owners that don't want to feel bad about purchasing the nismo. NO WAY, NISMO IS FAST!

If I was worried about which car had a faster 1/4 mile, I would have gotten the Camaro 2SS, sorry.

Same here. There were ten 370's on the lot. The two Nismos just looked Bad Arse, comparatively. They all drove relatively the same, but I could feel a bit more kick in the Nismo. Between the spoiler and the rims, I couldn't say no.

Some fellas last night commented that at certain angles, the Nismo looks like a Porsche. And the stares I get from peeps. On the Highways, the only time I get passed is when i'm going below the speed limit... Otherwise, I feel like the rabbit in a dog race with everyone following me.

700 more break-in miles and I can turn the juice loose!

i dont care if the NISMO is slower i would have rather had that if i could have afforded it haha

Reminds me of people who bought the 996 Porsche. They paid extra extra $ just to have a pseudo-better-looking, faster- car. Then they get insulted when regular Joe or Mary say, "Hey man, nice Boxster!!!!":bowrofl::bowrofl:


As I said, I have a black base Z and I am happy with it. I want a Nismo so if you think it is slower, call me and we can trade plus a couple of G's. I can go either way with the Nismo or non-Nismo.!!!!":bowrofl::bowrofl:

Isn't the turning rotation of the regular 370Z shorter than the Nismo? It could explain why the regular 370Z can turn better. Also, the Bridgestone tires are supposedly better too.

Anyway, I hope both cars get a huge massive upgrades as I might get a 370Z at the end of the year depending if the cars are getting upgrades to compete against America's pony cars.


ps. Nismo should get an automatic transmission. Why not satisfy both parties? :driving:

Hm. 0-60 Magazine (Winter edition) tested the Nismo down to 4.6 seconds. Has the regular Z ever been tested faster? I didn't buy it but the mag's on the newstands now.

I've seen one article where a 7AT hit 4.6 seconds. I think it was Motortrend but am not 100% sure.

So, in conclusion; if you want the fastest, go with a base auto... if you want the ugliest, go with the Nismo :stirthepot:

the way i see it, in the animal kingdom there are the average lions and then there are alpha male lions.

in the world of sports cars, there are the base 370z and then there are the 370z nismo :)

Are the alpha male lions somehow slower and weaker than the regular ones?

I watch animal planet a lot and according to the lion experts, male lions are very lazy. they would let the females hunt and only come to eat once the prey has been killed. so maybe a slower and weaker lion has got what it takes to become an alpha male, if he looks like an alpha male -- like in the sports cars world, not too many lions would challenge him if he looks mean and tough enough :)
