FWIW, the 4.6Ls rated at 315 hp dyno between 270-280 whp (dynojet) and put down around 330 whp with intake, exhaust (CBE and HFCs) and a tune. Drivetrain loss should be similar, so expect around 355 whp stock out of a 2011. But yeah, I don't know why anyone would buy a 2010 knowing that the 2011 was getting that much of a power increase. |
Yea I pulled up next to a scion with neon kit at a red light and the first thing he did when I stopped was rev his engine. I was like oh god, I just looked away and went on with my business and he sped away, probably telling his friends later that he beat a 370z.

Just last weekend had a VW Rabbit and Azteck come at me. Why? is all I ask.

it's kinda like the feeling a nice looking single woman would get when she showed up at a party and nobody made any move, even the ones who had no chance. |

Nah, you can't add your mods to make it fair. That'd be like adding suspension mods to the Mustang to make a road course comparison to the Z fair.
Bottom line is they have the straight line advantage. Stock for stock we beat the 2010s, but 2011 will be a completely different story. And most Mustang guys don't get upset about a 6 banger outgunning them. They are car guys too and understand the fundamentals of power and weight just like we do. And keep in mind that as far as V8s go, Mustangs have always been running the smaller engine compared to other V8 competition. |

The 427 FE engine was introduced in 1963 to handle the demands of NASCAR, NHRA, and AHRA, as well as street racing enthusiasts. The 427 block was cast from high nickle content iron with a thickened deck to handle the increased higher compression pressures. The design included mechanical tappets for higher revs, and was stress relieved using a slowed cooling process that minimized internal stresses. It used a cast iron crankshaft, and had grooved main bearing journals for improved lubrication. There were forged connecting rods borrowed from the now-discontinued high performance 390. The 427 was the only Ford big-block to use forged pistons. The intake manifold and cylinder heads were designed and flow-tested to work together with either a high riser, a medium riser, or a low riser induction system. It was available with either a single 4 barrel carb or, for maximum output, a dual 4 barrel configuration with an aluminum manifold. Ford did not publicize the measured dyno Hp of these engines, but it was more than 500 hp for either engine. Camshafts were revised so many times on these engines that the entire alphabet of single characters was exhausted and double letters were used as the last two digits of the part number. On the tracks, the high-riser 427 was so successful that NASCAR eventually banned it. Ford rated the low riser 4 barrel 427 at 410hp at 4500rpm and 476lb-ft of torque at 3400rpm. The dual 4 barrel version was rated at 425hp at 6000rpm and 480lb-ft of torque at 3700rpm. |
Old enough to be your son!
Haha, ok, not always, but almost always. |

I guess even I am guilty of it sometimes. Had my Z for about 3 weeks now, and last week I got really excited seeing a Ferrari 430 on the highway. He wanted no part of me, trying to get him to have a go. So, I win, right? |

I had a '98 Neon Expresso. I'm so glad that thing isn't still in my driveway! (Ex-wife took it with her! Good riddance to both!) |
Had a 2004 Mustang GT on my tail this weekend. He started revving his motor at the lights and had a sour look on his face... then I heard the blow-off valve and knew I'd pissed him off.... maybe it was the plate...! :icon17:
http://www.the370z.com/members/wheee...love-plate.jpg I let him pull around and fly past at mach 2; I just grinned :rofl2: |
just stick your hand out your window, give him a thumbs up and then slowing change to thumbs down

ahhh.... I just love it/hate it. It's one of those things that come with the Z. I personally can not stand mustangs though, mostly for the fact that they are mustangs and everyone has one around here, but the fact that ever Joe that owns one wants to race, and I for sake of not wanting to lose my license or God forbid my car, never give into it and let them sit there and do their thing. But one time, Mr. I'm going to race and beat you because I got a cool guy v-8 got owned. :) man I love my Z... Oh and the best part was the wifey was the one driving. lol next time I'll do the slowly thumbs down approach, that would great seeing their face and reaction.

[QUOTE=Steevz;449756]Hey cool, what portion are you teaching? I'm about to start the 64 course. In fact this is my study break! Perhaps I'll see you around.[/QU
I am a civilian Contract IP teaching UH-60's. I drive a Black Cherry Convertible. What are you driving? If you see me around say hello and introduce yourself. Randy |
I love doing that too, except the other day some dumba** almost lost control and just about ran over some pedestrians so I think I am just going to ignore them so I don't see anyone die.:tiphat:

what do you do at 24 that is so important, that your personal life is their business? Your personal life shouldn't matter if you have a traffic violation, most politicians have a felony on their record and still keep their jobs

And since when was a street racing conviction just a "traffic violation?" |
