Oh and the best part was the wifey was the one driving. lol next time I'll do the slowly thumbs down approach, that would great seeing their face and reaction.

But you could get your 15 minutes of fame, Steve! Page One of the local paper for sure. Why would that jeopardize your job? :p

So, while I don't think I'll ever be officially street racing again (minus maybe a quick, short run or something), Im pretty sure actually giving a slow thumbs down is fairly douche-y, and I'd laugh promptly if someone did that to me. It could mean so many things...either you don't approve of the car, what they're doing on the road, or you just know your *** is going to be beat by whatever wants to race you so you're tucking your tail.

When I was cruising in my Camaro (no slouch at all, with 520 WHP on the juice), some dude instigated a race with me. And by that, I mean he was revving the crap out of me at a light, and then took off. So, being the middle of the night with wide open road in east bum **** Omaha, I didn't back down. Smoked him. He sticks his hand out and gives me a thumbs down. WTF is THAT supposed to mean? lol

If you don't want to race someone who's instigating, either don't look at them, or just laugh and ignore it. Giving a thumbs down just makes you look like a vagina.

chris410 03-18-2010 02:34 PM

Today I installed the GRiP exhaust (Ark Technologies) so I took the Z out to make sure everything was good.

All of the sudden on my rear is some idiot in a WRX. So, I ignored him and he gets next to me and floors it. I let him go...he slows down and does this again, then starts pacing me. So I slow up...

Well, the area we were in has two schools and is a known spot for cops to camp out so racing there (or anywhere on the street these days) would be pretty stupid.

Anyhow, we get to a red light and we go, and he floors it of course...I have to say that while I know the WRX can launch well because it is all wheel drive, his must have been stock because he really wasn't going anywhere all that quickly. Well, here comes a turn and the idiot just about loses it, I had to laugh because judging by how slow his shifts were and the fact that he early apexed the turn, I knew he couldn't drive to save his life.

Well, I'm sure right about now he's posting up on his boards how a 370Z was "afraid" to race. In any case...he didn't affect me and did not thing more than show his lack of driving skill and nearly wreck his car. Rookies...sheesh...

Red370 03-18-2010 05:43 PM

Whats funny, like i've said before, I get alot of 350's and G35's revving at me, like the idiots got something to prove, funny really. Not my fault you're driving old news :)

Yeah, I just completely ignored him...honestly I think it's the best thing to do rather than make any type of signals, that does nothing more than feed into it.

The way I look at it...if I want to race I'll do it at the track.

How dare you buy a better car than a 350z driver. :stirthepot:

370Zsteve 03-18-2010 09:01 PM

I always exchange friendly nods, headlight blips, etc with any Z, regardless of displacement. No malice seen at all. Maybe you are glaring angrily at them. A G37 driver and I did the nod at a 3-way stop yesterday. :driving:

I gave the thumbs up to a guy today in a 427 Cobra!

Vegasboricua 03-18-2010 09:36 PM

havent gotten that comment about my car being a porche yet lol

Red370 03-18-2010 09:50 PM

I have twice actually, one from an old lady and from a high school kid :D I was driving to the mall today to get some clothes for this date I have tomorrow with this insanely hot chick, just had to add that, and some guy in a IS250 comes flying up on my a$$, and im thinking, ugh, here we go again, then he pulls alongside me, 4 people in the car were gawking in every which way at Roxy, then I got 2 thumbs up, put a big smile on my face, love this car man.

steveg78 03-19-2010 12:11 AM

Took the car to work today and on the way home (2 lane hwy 65MPH) I roll up behind a stock UGLY VW Golf. He starts douching around changing speeds and now cars are passing us on the right (I CAN'T STAND THIS). Then he throws something out his moonroof which nearly clips my car, he's lucky it was a wrapper and not something more solid. So I get fed up and while in 6th give it gas and pass him on the right. I accidentally realize I'm doing 100 and ease up now that I put some distance between us. Sure enough he rolls up and starts pacing and leading a bit. This crap just pisses me off. Like what's the point of pacing me? I don't like cars driving directly besides me no matter what! Even when I'm in my Jeep. I look over (which I usually don't do) just because I want to see these goofs and laugh in their face. 2 dudes in the car looking dead ahead all serious. I just shook my head and slowed up to 60MPH and they couldn't take it anymore. I resisted because I'm still babying her during break-in but I just don't understand why people need to feel the urge to drive like idiots around the Z. It's an amazing night and day difference when I drive the Z and the Jeep. Sometimes it's just nice to drive around in the Jeep and not draw so much attention.

Were they actually talking about a Porsche parked next to your 370z?

Because they look nothing alike, but then again most people don't know much about cars

I would take it as a great compliment as Porsches do look beautiful and expensive so it is all good

True, it'd take a someone who's full-retard regarding cars...but the overall shape (mainly, the side profile) definitely reeks of a Porsche shape.

Either way, they were an idiot though lol.

Vegitto-kun 03-19-2010 06:08 AM

the 370Z's shape is porscheish it too be honest

m4a1mustang 03-19-2010 06:11 AM

Had a guy at a light a few months back ask me if my car was the new Z. He asked what the number was and told me it looked like a Porsche.

Let me get this straight. You are "babying her during break-in" and running 100mph fast-and-furious all at the same time. OK then. The Golf is a good-looking car, btw. Was it a GTI?

Um, no, my car was by itself in a driveway. I happen to think a 370Z and a 911 have many things in common, most striking is the fender bulges, if you look at a 911 and a 370Z head-on, the similar silhouette is most apparent.

I also think a 370Z is better-looking than a 911, more modern, the 911 despite it's upgrades over the years still looks basically the same as it did decades ago.
