The most common complaint is some "clunkiness" between 1st and 2nd. This can be all but eliminated by reaching medium-high rpms and shifting a little slower. If I shift at 3k RPM very quickly, I'll definitely feel it though. It's not horrible, it just isn't as smooth as other shifts.

Outside of that, there have been some comments on whether or not to keep SRM on, some issues with short-throw shifters, and, previously mentioned, people that just don't know how to drive. None of these really represent a glaring issue with the 6MT in the 370z.

The only problem I read here was a guy with a bad 6th syncro. All others were newb errors.

yes it is clunky and the only problem i've had(which has occured anymore) was with the clutch pedal having no pressure till it got about 2 inches off the floor. i immediately took the car back to the dealer and by the time i got there the problem had gone away. the faint noise and clunky vibration i now know is normal though the dealer did replace my clutch release bearing monday.

See, if Nissan knew how to make a proper car the engine would leak oil onto the tranny, lubricating it with unicorn transmission magic. Conversely, this would cool the engine while enhancing Nismo stickers to give +50HP per red letter.

Trust me. I read it on the internet.

Well, I'm nearly 59 and I have only owned one AT in my life (Germany, of all places). I have a lot of experience driving MT. And, I think the MT in the Z could be better. I live in Georgia and I have about given up babying the shifter into 2nd gear when the car is cold. So much so that I now take off in 2nd gear for the first 5-7 minutes of driving. Even after warming up, I don't see how the car will ever perform a half-second shift to 2nd gear--needed to get somewhere near it's 0-60 speed specification. Actually, my Nissan pickup shifts better to 2nd gear.

Having said that, remember it only appears there are lots of problems with the MT and shifting because, as has been pointed out to me and as I understood already, when things work as they should, people rarely pop on and say, "My MT works good.".

Also, I've read (scanned over) some people having a few issues with the AT. Can't remember if it was with the paddle shifters or off the console shifting.
