In a couple of years or so, the 370Zs will depreciate and prices on used Zs would drop to high $10Ks, or low $20Ks. Then you will see a lot more Zs on the road because used Zs would become more affordable to a lot more people. It would not feel special or exclusive driving the Z any more as it does today.

Now when i drive I wave to other fellow Z drivers, but if i start to see more Zs more often, i would not want to wave and get shot at.

And more mustang drivers would dump their cars, and start driving Zs, that's the scary part.

I'm sorry but I can't follow the math. How can there be any more or less Zs then there are sold either new or used?

yeah im not entirely sure if i follow this logic...to this day i still dont see a HUGE amount of Z's of any model on the roads. Its definitely not a rare breed here in dallas, but its certainly not like a honda accord or civic, where you'd see 200 of them a day.
i think the path of this Z will be like the one of the past...you'll see more and more of them as it matures in it life and more are sold in its lifespan. will you see a billion of them? nah. for every 10 mustangs you'll probably see 2 or 3 Z's. that's just a guesstimate so don't shoot me lol.

You can't see more used than you see new. All used were sold new.

Maybe what he's trying to say is that right now, with the economy the way it is, there are a lot of people who won't dish out the money for a new 370Z, so you don't see many of them on the road. Give it a few years, and all the Zs people like us have will start to get traded in. As used cars, they will be much more affordable. Meanwhile, all things equal, there would still be the same number of people willing to pony up for a brand new Z in the future as there are now. Net result is more Zs on the road.

Having said all that, I fail to see the point of this observation. Yes, several years from now, there will be more 370Zs on the road. This will be true due to the simple fact that there will be more model years for the 370Z that have passed. So what? This is true for pretty much all cars. The 350Z was special, once upon a time. Now, not so much. It's just the natural order of things. You know, I'm sure when the PT Cruiser first came out, the morons who bought them felt special and exclusive for a while. Little did they know they would one day be called PT Losers.

I guess the other observation is that when people with lower socio-economic status are able to afford the Z, merely waving at them friendly like will incite them to shoot you. Because people who have less money are more violent and unpredictable on principle. ...?....

Sometimes browsing in this place makes me sad

Its still a 2 seater sports car thats not very practical for a lot of people's needs. this fact will prevent it from turning into some run of the mill car that everyone drives around to get from A to B

my friend has an 87 300zx in great condition (he bought it a year ago with about 90k on the odo) that he got for 3000. its a 3000 dollar car, and its really old, but its way cooler than any other car for that price that i see on the road. its not going to turn into a civic or a corolla and you'll see a million of them all over the place.

I'm starting to wonder what exactly hit you the other day...and how hard.

The 370z is no more special or exclusive than any other new car. It's not some rare exotic, it's a fairly inexpensive sports car that costs about the same as a fully loaded family sedan, like an Altima, Camry, Accord, etc... You are not rich, or even special, because you own a 370z. I like my car too, but I don't delude myself into thinking I'm above everyone else because I bought one.

Do owners of used 350z's drive around shooting people for waving at them? If so, I guess I'm out of the loop, or maybe you just live in a horrible area and should have paid less for your car, and more for a new location to live.

Mustang owners also don't trade in for 350's. Better styling and some depreciation will not suddenly make them fall in love with the 370z anymore than they did with the 350's, they'll continue to drool over their American muscle.

I completely disagree. The 350Z held the best resale value for the first year or two, and Z's are still selling in the teens and 20's. It's been 7 years since they came out on the market, and I only see about 20 here in the Twin Cities.

The 370Z should and will hold its value just as well as the 350Z did or even better.

I don't know where you live, but we're a good group of enthusiasts and get a lot of compliments from other enthusiasts.

What you are saying is not true - what is true is: you will eventually see 370z's w/ neon lights and chrome rims... that is inevitable...

Should we take where the OP lives into account? I'm thinking Priuses are probably more common than Z cars where he lives.
