Yea, we are WAY too lax with our laws. If a guy is on your property stealing stuff, he is probably not the nicest of folk. If I were in a situation of having to confront that person in the act, I think I would rather bust a cap in him rather than chance getting myslef shot/cut/stabbed for attempting to give him a "stern talking to", lol.

Reminds of that scene from Robocop 2 when he catches the kids looting the electronics store and tries to reason with them => FAIL
