Its always on. I see no real reason for me to turn it off. If I wanted to play around its one thing, but trying trying to drive to somewhere I don't need the action
|
I always turn it off....wet, dry, light driving, pushing.....though...even when you turn it off its still active....even off i don't like it...it still jumps in...i wish i could completely disable it permanantly.

slip light should come on whenever one wheel is spinning faster than the others, regardless of whether vdc is on or off, i think.
|
so its settled, its pretty much a 50/50 split

thats one ugly @ss man in your avy^^ jesus christ.... but i cant stop looking at it rofl

i only take my z on dry days, unless the temps are 50F and under it's turned off.
been driving FR for a while so i know my limits. i dont push it, but i dont like it dictating how my car behaves. |

I don't drive with it at the track where I push the car to it's absolute limits hence I don't ever drive with it on the street. Yes it will rob you of power in turns if you push it.... besides, sometimes it's fun to kick it out a bit.
When it rains... always with it on. |
Had an incident the other day... a very familar corner for me on the way home from badminton, it's a sweeping 270 degree loop on to a freeway, anyway in my previous car this would be a perfectly safe place where i'd floor the car in 3rd gear on the way out of the loop to get up to speed of the freeway traffic.
It was a wet day, in third gear, i did three quarter throttle in 3rd... and the vdc light went crazy... just to think, if it had been off, i would have scraped the right side of my rear bumper... never in my wildest dreams would i have thought that this car would break traction in that situation... Two learnings that day... 1. this car is a damn powerful car and I being new to this level of power need to take the car on to a skid pan and learn to control it, 2. don't turn vdc off... |

On.... Its always on for a reason... Plus I don't think I could control this beast with it off...
|
I never turn it off.
the most pre Z powerfull I drove was a 250hp megane CC and that was FWD + http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/b...5f70eb948c.jpg |
ON, if you have any doubts search or crashes or accidents on the forum. A majority of crashes where Z's were not hit by other drivers were caused by mishandling with the VDC off! I personally don't like VDC interfering with my spirited driving buy I don't want my car in the shop either.

basically ill put it this way... when driving w/ it on do you often see yellow squiggly lines poping up in the dash? if so - you are sliding and you should probably keep it off... however - if you have gotten used to driving it with the slip light off then i dont see why you cant turn off VDC and do the same... it is a learning tool which teaches you how far you can push your car...

I always wondered.
my button says ESP instead of VDC. it IS the same thing right? |
LOL ... same thing... but in regards to the comment above yours... I dont agree - VDC is all well and good but you can still fvck yourself up with it on... for instance: lets say you go into a turn wayyy too hot (or its raining and you forgot)... VDC kicks in and causes you to instantly understeer - BOOM you just hit the side rail...
All im saying is.. understand the car... understand the feature... and use it wisely... I would recommend ppl who can drive w/ it on but never see the car losing traction to try it off on familiar turns.. its hard to track your car every week :p |
As far as I can tell from the little bit I've pushed the car with VDC off, any hard throttle exiting a turn will make the back break free. VDC will stay on unless I have a couple football fields worth of empty road around me! This car is damn powerful and I will admit down right scary if it breaks loose and you aren't ready. It must be respected as such!
|
I'm a very competent driver and I bought this car do drive, but the oversteer is sudden and nasty. I drive with it on almost all of the time. I sure wish it had a sport setting which allowed for more leeway though.
|
the throttle cutout is what ticks me off, its far to harsh.
|
For everyday driving I used to keep all the nannies off, until it got old pushing the button and seeing the light on. Now I leave them all on till I want to drive the car hard. I don't ever trigger DSC in my car by accident, and the only time I break traction is on purpose, so I'd rather only see the DSC off light illuminated when I plan to play a little.

Always on. The other day I turned it off to have a little fun. From a stop I made a left turn in first gear. Part way through the turn I stepped on it and the tires broke loose and the wife and I proceeded to go side ways through the turn. As I completed the turn, still in first gear, we were almost completely side ways so I let off the throttle and straitened it out. If I had more room I would have dropped second and kept going. Man that was a lot of fun.

Parking lot, empty, slight incline to it, but not enough to throw things too far out of whack. Stopped. VDC off. Kick the auto-stick over. Turn wheel all the way to the right. Floor it. Car spins like a top. INSTANTLY. I did a 180 before I knew what happened (I expect it, but not THAT fast!) - so I stayed on it, and made another full circle (540) - then left the parking lot. That was the last thing I've done involving VDC and the steering wheel being anything but straight. A few days ago, I decided to remind myself of the amount of power. Dead stop. Turned off VDC. Kicked it over to the auto-stick. Floor it with wheels straight. Rear-end broke loose, and the rear kicked to the right then to the left for a mega-burnout in 1st through 2nd, and chirped 3rd. VDC is a safety measure everyone should use. I don't care if you think you're a pro, the car has a VERY steep learning curve to it, and unless you want to explain to your insurnace company and pay high premiums, that extra safety measure is a good thing. Maybe it is a bit too aggressive at knocking down the "funometer", but, it's doing so because perhaps the level of fun attempting to be had is bordering on stupid. |

i apologize for the stupid joke. Yes, to my knowledge, ESP=VDC. ESP stands for Electronic Stability Program. Nissan calls it VDC (Vehicle Dynamic Control) cuz they got tired of americans thinking their cars had psychic ability. again, i apologize for the stupid joke. |

and you forgot it was raining you also forgot you drive a powerful rwd car you also forgot your foot operates a pedal that increases forward acceleration i'm pretty sure having vdc off would save you there, yeah |

Nothing like flooring it and having it run up and stay between 6K and 7.5K, shifting and it dropping a bit and staying at 6K-7.5K, shifting it again, and it dropping and grabbing. The car rolling forward slowly (as compared to the speedometer) - lol I'm sure it plays hell on the drivetrain, but man it's freaking nuts. All that without a brake-stand - just flooring it from a dead stop. ;) |
i turn it off when it rains
sideway action FTW |

LOL...Yeah, one guy killed and at least a dozen cars seriously damaged (and that's just the guys stoopid enough to tell us) with VDC off.... Tells ya something, doesn't it??....:ugh2: |
this is probably why car manufacturers are making most sports cars AWD now!
|
Mine stay on unless I'm doing that VVV
