I never track my car either, I still believe it's worth the better brakes, rubber, wheels and looks

Also I guess we need a better definition on what OP means with spirited back road driving... I guess this isn't what he's talking about?

spearfish nailed it - big upgrades to wheels, brakes and rear diff... the SRM is a safety feature in some ways, and you can always turn it OFF when you don't want to use it...

Similar performance under which conditions? Same size tire different brand? Most likely there won't be a lot of difference no.

But the size of the tire should make a difference from 225/50WR18 to 245/40WR19 and 245/45WR18 to 275/35WR19 should make a difference...

Its worth it just for the brakes.

m4a1mustang 02-06-2010 09:14 PM

It's definitely worth it.

If you can afford the extra $2500, get the Sports package. If can't, then dont'.

I asked myself the same question. When i see the two side by side, i had to get the Sports package.

brakes + better tires and wheels man... not to mention SRM if you are getting a M6... Its worth it ...

SRM is a big ticket item that gets lots of attention.
Sure as heck don't know why it gets so much attention. It's a nice to have but not a necessity.

I have no real plans to track mine, but I had to get the sport. Even if its just for the wheels its worth it.

The Sports package was designed for spirited street driving IMO.

onekneedown 02-07-2010 11:07 PM

IMO - If you are looking to buy a "sports" car, then why wouldn't you get the car with the most "sport options". Depending on how you finance it, the extra $2,500 over the length of the terms wouldn't break most people.

Beware of the 'I'm going to replace all the sports mods anyway perspective." Add ons mean a lot to you and not many other people when you go to trade or sell the car.

If you are not tracking the vehicle, you can get the sport options enjoy it and never worry about dumping two or three times as much money into the car then the original sports option costs.

I didn't get it because I don't like the rear spoiler. I think it ruins the lines of the car. Also, the front spoiler would scrape on everything, seeing as I scrape all the time now with my base. I wouldn't mind the LSD, but the extra cost of replacement tires for the 19" is a negative also. Plus, saving 10% on the price of my car wasn't too shabby. Pays for my gas for 2 years (or the cost of my insurance for 2 years).
