The power steering was working fine before I replaced the clutch, flywheel, and installed a ZSpeed CMAK. I did not touch the steering rack during the removal of the transmission.

The power steering was working fine before I replaced the clutch, flywheel, and installed a ZSpeed CMAK. I did not touch the steering rack during the removal of the transmission. The fluid level in the power steering reservoir is adequate, and the tires have sufficient air pressure.
However, after the job, the power steering feels very heavy, like it's not functioning properly. The car is still drivable, but the steering is noticeably off-there's resistance and some free play. I'm perplexed because I didn't touch the steering rack or any related components during the clutch job. There is no check engine light. Is there a plug on the transmission harness that could be related to the power steering that I should check? Or possibly a fuse somewhere that could be the culprit? Any suggestion would be appreciated. Last edited by ZNismoZ; 05-26-2025 at 04:07 AM. |

1) AFAIK the power steering and clutch systems are separate, but you may have nicked something while doing the clutch.
2) Inspect for damage for any fittings, check for leaky fluid, damaged/worn bushing (that could be the play?) As you are in socal, there should be no shortage of options to find Nissan specific shops, like Specialty Z
