Update: They're offering me 18,600ish for the car plus another 2500 for the finger... dunno the buyback yet because they didn't offer but I sure as hell requested it. Sound fair, or are they trying to screw me? It's hard to get an accurate value on these things but I haven't seen them listed for less than 20.

Hey Duc - chitty news my man.

A quick CarGurus search says you aren't going to find a 2009-2013 Nismo for less than 23k with approx 60,000 miles. Not sure how many miles you have, but you might be able to spin this real nice in your favor.

Say something along the lines of "To replace my car it'd cost me $23,000, plus with a broken finger (if you do typing, manual labor) the cost of missing work is going to run me $X,000 amount of dollars over what you're offering. Please revisit your assessment."

I haven't been in vehicle claims so I am talking out of my *** here, but my lady went through something similar with a messed up shoulder and essentially said kick rocks - pay me more, and she got a bit more for her trouble + Physical therapy paid for 6 months or so.

Yeah that's what I found too. I'm asking for an explanation of their value assessment and I may push the issue a bit. In any case the buyback is $2566, which would be dumb not to do.

Agree for that amount, and time to take apart....

So funny story. Not only was I able to mitigate injury by leaning back, relaxing, and (mostly) getting the hell out of the way of the airbag, somehow I also managed to not even stall the engine during the crash... it ran fine right until I shut it off probably 20 seconds later, but well before the shattered radiator could become an issue. It should be 100% fine pending a visual inspection.

So. If I'm going to rebuild this thing I want FI. I really like the pulley up through the hood look but I can't find much about putting a Whipple on a Z except a 12 page argument on this forum. Anyone have some insight?

Check out TopgunZ supercharger options or the GT-R turbo kit if you don't want to go Boosted Performance or Fast Intentions.

I always liked the FI TT kit. The whipple draws me because it's something totally different. My weird mad scientist mechanic buddy seems to think we can make it work. I'm not as confident, but the guy did put a 300zx TT into an Isuzu Amigo so what do I know?

I was just hoping there was already a good kit for the plenum and tubing and everything.

Good to hear you're okay. In the end the day it's a piece of metal we get attached to due to the blood sweat and tears we accumulate saving for it and working on it. Go after him/her. Sue for damages.

It pays to bitch apparently. I'm getting 17k plus the car plus the 2.5k bribe to not sue the sh*t out of Progressive. I can live with that.

Resale value is now nil, so after I inspect the unibody I'll decide whether to part it out or rebuild and add a pair of turbos. It looks ugly but the panel gaps haven't moved so maybe there's life in it yet.
