370z nismo crash frustation.

hello guys i posted a thread before with pics of the crash. anyways so its been almost 3 months and im REALLY angry in how long they been working on the car. i been calling my nissan dealership like every day and they told me the car is fixed but they need the replacement of the air bags.that was 3 WEEKS ago:shakes head: im really getting aggravated on how slow the service is.. i mean are the airbags really that hard to come by? so preety much my nismo is just sitting in the dealership fixed with no airbags. WTF. ugh just had to share this..

vipor 01-17-2010 05:46 PM

wow that blows man.

you had the nismo that your mom slid on a curb right?

dash/wheel bags or the seats? seems like the seat ones would be easier to come by

I feel your frustration, but keep in mind the worst is behind you, and the dealer will get the part, and you'll be reunited and back on the road soon....

nogoodname 01-17-2010 05:57 PM

they got to change the dashboard and airbag... maybe one is back-ordered....

Trips 01-17-2010 05:59 PM

Isn't just the airbag and dash cover?

Why are you mad?
Think positively bro...
1.) Be glad that your mother is alive and well
2.) Your car was repairable
3.) They're(nissan) is making sure your z protects you just incase of another accident
This situation could have been a lot worse so stop crying about it and man up.

Trips 01-17-2010 06:12 PM

a tad harsh their Crown imo

yes, i know. its just frustraiting how long it takes for a part to get in. thats why im frustrated.
ps im not cryng. im telling you about it

nogoodname 01-17-2010 06:24 PM

so, go there in person and see what's the deal... stop calling.. just go

chuckd05 01-17-2010 06:24 PM

I'm willing to bet that the body shop is either not run well or there's something back ordered. But in order for the first assumption to be wrong they would have to make sure you and them are on the same page and you are fully aware of whats going on and why its taking that long. That amount of time is extremely irrational to have your car at a shop for an accident like yours. I'd demand a rental car sooner than later as you deserve it. Your insurance should cover a rental anyway, if it doesn't look to see about adding rental coverage as it would cost a a very small amount to add to your policy and covers you in times like this. What if you didn't have your moms car to take ? Than what ?

nogoodname 01-17-2010 06:26 PM

depends who's name is on the car.... if he's under 21, no rental

That is true, but in that case I wonder if the mother has a rental car as she would be able to get the rental car.

These things just happen, it stinks but 3 months seems a bit excessive.

nogoodname 01-17-2010 06:32 PM

did they fix the axles?? i'm sure the frame was damaged and that takes time to fix.....maybe not 3 months... but still

yikes! that's ugly....

Slynky 01-17-2010 08:19 PM

Jeez !!! And to think I complained about a $3,000 repair (my 17-year-old son) on our Nissan PU taking 14 days to complete.

Man, that sucks !!

kenchan 01-18-2010 07:37 AM

Yah, I would make a visit too.

Jason 01-18-2010 07:55 AM

It's a new car so a lot of parts will be on backorder. I don't recall but I had to wait a while for the hood seals and another big piece. Either way, i'd go check everything else out. Body shops tend to always screw something up or the paint always has some imperfection because they think everyone is an old man who won't notice. Save some time, that way if there are any problems they fix them while you wait for the airbags to arrive.

Yeah it is, but apparently not unusual....Took that long for them to source a frame rail bracket for my repair. I drove around with a damaged/dented car for months. Sucked.

juan05 01-18-2010 02:13 PM

yea guys, thanks for the advice i did make a visit they told me the same thing.. now they have my car in a toyota body shop.. not in the nissan..so i have to drive to a diff location. additionally my dad has complained but we just get the same response. "any day now either tomorrow or in a week" that was two weeks ago. i know is not their fault because nissan should be the ones who should have the parts in stock but still. is just frustrasting.

juan05 01-18-2010 02:15 PM

additionally, when they put my car for the first alingnment test it failed it =/ so they had to order more suspension parts. that was like a 6 weeks ago..i dont know what the hell they are doing with the car ima see if i can go see it today. i hope they fixed it right.

yes is very irrational. the insurance does cover it im just gona get the money for the rental car that im not using.

Jason 01-18-2010 02:27 PM

damn, i didnt know you could do that! i coulda pocketed an extra $900. i used up my rental even though i didnt really need to get around.

GingaBreadMan 01-18-2010 02:35 PM

Be thankful. They're probably saving you and your family from wrapping it around a tree. 3 months of your family being safe. Priceless

I'm in the body shop buisness, and when we have a car in our shop that is similar to yours. You need to have patience.. People do not understand the hard work and time that we put into these cars to fix them the "right" way. The more your call and complain about how long your car will be with them then your just going to piss someone off, and your car will end up being half a$$ed, so best word of advice is too wait an the final reward is going to be worth the wait. An on another note don't exspect it to be perfect neither, chances are it wasent perfect before the crash anyways.

Your statement had merit up until you said this. Perhaps you would like to qualify this observation?

yeah, what he said. i expect it to be perfect to the eye at least. :icon08:

Trips 01-18-2010 03:33 PM

I agree!!! :shakes head: RED CARD....
The car was new, and as perfect as it can get coming from the Factory..

frost 01-18-2010 03:36 PM

It's like the old saying "fast, cheap, high quality. Pick 2"

If I leave my car there for three months, I expect to at least get quality out of the deal. If it's not going to be perfect, at least give it back to me fast.

HellfighterZ 01-18-2010 06:55 PM

What I'm sayin is, when u deal with cars for a living car's from the factory usually aren't perfect from the get go. Take a corvette for example the gaps are horrible, with the materials cars are made from now a days flex with heat and the cold. On a warm day gaps can change, with this after a car accident gaps will never be perfect unless you have a experienced tech that Is willing to spend countless hours fine tuneing those gaps..

When u get your car back look at those gaps. Especially on doors there. You will see what I mean, you can have them adjust them and adjust them but it'll never look the same.

HellfighterZ 01-18-2010 10:25 PM

I know were not talking about a corvette would it make u happy if I used a different car as an example?

CrownR426 01-18-2010 11:00 PM

Good luck and keep calling your insurance company!
Bother them until you get your baby back!
