Man, when I first got my G35 i was so pissed when small nicks and scratches got on her, then i learned that it is definitely inevitable.

Just something you have to live with =(.

Now 4 years after i could care less if that biatch gets scratched.

Default Few Suggestions

I'm neurotic about my new Z, too. Here are a few simple things I do to keep my car as nice as possible, while still enjoying it:
1) Get the full clear bra application. That cuts out 50% of the exposure to chips.
2) Store your Z from December through March, knowing that your body shop will do a regular, professional touch up at the end of the driving season in November. If you must use your car as a daily driver then have 2 regular, standing, annual appointments at the body shop, one in April and one in October. That way you'll have peace of mind, knowing that any chips or dings will soon be repaired.
3) Avoid parallel parking to escape from idiots tapping your bumpers in front and back and also to avoid scraping curbs while parking your Z with its compromised visibility.
4) Try to park your car in a large lot, far away from the rest. If you can't, try for an end space---limits exposure to door dings by 50%. If you must park next to someone, look for a four door car, rather than a two door car, as the doors in a four door do not extend as far when they open.
5) No valet parking---ever.
5) Park overnight inside, in your garage.
6) Hand wash your car.
Enjoy your Z!

in the past, i would do this until one day the thief broke in the car and stole the stereo system

i don't do this anymore. it's better to get a ding or scratch than to get your dashboard ripped out.

The worst part about it is that I want to fix every little thing that's wrong with the car and it costs me a fortune. I'm almost coming to the realization that no matter how hard I try, something will always happen to my cars. Sorry for the rant, but I really needed to vent, lol.
If you expect to keep it perfect then you are going to have to make the car a garage queen. And you also better buy a beater if you keep the 370Z as a garage queen.

And then you also better get used to making car payments on something you can only look at and not leave the garage with. And then you better be prepared to listen to the wife complaining about paying all that money for something that you cannot use or enjoy because it has to be confined to the garage all the time.

Or you can very simply just get a life and get over your neurosis...

i too can't understand why someone would want to keep their car looking fairly fresh

While it is normal for this sort of stuff to happen, it does suck. One thing to consider is that while you will notice every tiny little ding and scratch chances are no one else will unless you point it out.

What we notice, other people over look! But to be honest, it only bothers us!

Well I'm very "picky" about my car and I can see the OP point of view.

If you don't take care of your car nobody else will or unless you have money to blow out everytime some idiot ding your door and such.

However, curb rash is the driver faults.
