Default Unprofessional Sales People

Just got back from an early morning test drive of the new 370z, I'll get to that in a minute. Really I want to rant about my experience with the salesman, the guy was clueless about the product he is selling. I don't know about you guys but when I'm making a big purchase like this the salesman's knowledge is a deciding factor in the deal, I just wanna be comfortable that he/she knows what they are talking about.

This guy had no idea on the cars HP he was like, "yeah its got 300hp" I was like no isn't it like 332 or something so he started reading the sticker omg. Then he's like I gotta drive it off the lot then we can switch out on the street which I know is normal but this guy was being careless and almost scraped the bumper bringing it down from the sidewalk area where it was at. Once we test drove it I noticed it had about 15 miles on it and he was like, "go ahead open it up" and proceeded to tell me how they "test drove it" the day it came in. I was thinking more like abused it the first day. And one last thing the dude wreaked of cigarette smoke like I mean both his breath and clothes. I know most sales people are honest and its a negotiation when buying a car but guys like this ruin it for the rest.

THE TEST DRIVE:
I won't say much here cuz other people on the forum pretty much have summed it all up with how they love it and I'm no exception. First, big power difference between the 370 and my 350 it just feels quicker and lighter. The sport mode had me saying wow like every time it did it, that feature is right on the money and makes you sound like a race car driver. Interior quality has been improved significantly so thats good. The particular color I drove was a yellow one I guess they had sold the white one I wanted to see but still the color was very nice.

CONCLUSION
I'm definitely getting one now that I've seen the differences between the 350 and 370 but I think I might be better off going to other dealerships in the SoCal area I guess ones that conduct themselves more professional, maybe I might give these guys a second chance but I'm dealing with the fleet manager this time. I think the experience brought me from excited to going cold as far as trying to sit down and order something for now.

I agree 100%. I'm a major car enthusiast, but without fail ever time I've gone into a dealership to look at a car I have been more educated than the "sales professional." Most of this is due to the constant churn of employees, especially now with the economy so bad I don't think most sales people last more than 6 months.

No matter what job I've been in, I've taken the time to learn about every aspect of the job so that I was proficient. Salespeople who don't know their product are annoying, and working out a deal with them takes 2x longer than a dude who knows his business.

Well some of them are like when I bought my 350z my sales guy pointed out a ding which was in the most hidden of places and probably wouldn't have caught it until its first wash. But yeah with the economy right now any sales person has to look out for themselves and use sketchy tactics so I kinda agree with you.

I would have requested to work with someone that didn't stink because there's nothing more annoying than having to smell someone's bad habit in a tight cabin area.

Here's a scenario:

Me: (opens the passenger door, sits, and closes the door)

Smelly salesman: (opens his door, sits, and closes the door)

Me: (two seconds later) then

Smelly salesman:

I was on a test drive of a camaro and the dude lit up a cigar in it, my reaction was similar to the one above.

Were you at a "buy here, pay here" lot or something?
