Why flip me off?

So I was up in portland OR to see a trail blazers game. I drive a 2006 wrx sti as my daily driver and on the way back I ran into a few wrx's and a we were "racing" around on I-5 and a yellow 370z pulls up. I get all excited because I actually own a restored 1972 240z and am working on a 260z. So we race around a bit. He beats me by about 3 car lengths and a little farther down we run into some traffic and we are almost completely stopped and I roll down my window to tell the guy nice car and that I have a 240z and he rolls down his window flips me off and says F YOU. and pulls off at the next exit..... I was like...... oooooook. Just felt like venting.

Who knows....some people are wired wrong.

Well, first...it could have been the racing part...

Current running for top three in my view:
~BMW
~Camaro
~Mustang
With the rebirth of the Camaro they are coming out in 100s now, but it is hard to catch up to the BMW crowd, maybe in a few years.

True, but there are so few of them, I would put them in the top 10 probably.

kenchan 01-04-2010 01:06 PM

huh... that is odd why he flipped you off and said f-you.

j.arnaldo 01-04-2010 01:06 PM

The problem with some folk is their attitude. Regardless of what you say or do, those sourpusses will invariably blast you. I'm very resilient to people like that, and always respond with a super sense of humor that blows them away!

Red370 01-04-2010 01:09 PM

To the OP, I've had several occasions where I was just cruisin along, minding my own business when some douche in a Evo, STI, Civic, pulls up alongside me chirpin their BOV at me, basically antagonizing me into a race, and that pisses me off quite honestly, so I dunno, maybe you ruffled his feathers a bit. By far, the most immature crowd i've seen on the streets have been EVO and STI drivers, thats not directed necessarily at you, but they seem to attract immature fanboys. Well them and Mustang/Camaro drivers.

06WRXsti 01-04-2010 01:27 PM

I don't feel like I provoked him. He came up on me and was provoking me if anything. I would have to agree about evo and wrx owners. I think civics are the worst though. They almost always try to get me to race them and about 90% of civics are ugly and riced out and super slow. but I think he flipped me off and said f you to make sure his point was made. haha:)

antman22 01-04-2010 01:27 PM

Some people are dicks. Its as simple as that. He's probably pissed off at the world that he's got a lil smokey for a ****. Ya know, I'd rather not figure out the reason for his sour attitude....

CBRich 01-04-2010 01:31 PM

You guys aren't focusing properly. We need to find out WHY this guy flipped him the bird. I have a few questions that may help.

1. How much hair gel was involved?
2. Could his sunglasses encompass nine to ten eyes?
3. Did his shirt have sleeves?
4. Was there a tan? If so, how fake did it look?

If you can answer those questions we can further understand what type of man this is.

golfgirlrobin 01-04-2010 01:38 PM

Maybe he flipped you off for street racing and putting people's lives at risk who are just trying to mind their own business and get home in one piece.

Or maybe that's just why I would have flipped you off.

06WRXsti 01-04-2010 01:40 PM

ok. so white sunglasses. flat hat. and his ears were gauged.

06WRXsti 01-04-2010 01:44 PM

haha IT WAS YOU!!!!!!!! and he was driving like a maniac. weaving in and out of cars. i was just racing a couple wrx's and him the one time when there was room on the freeway and no traffic was in the way. you can race someone on the freeway and not put anyone but yourself and the person deciding to race you at risk. Thats what I was doing and I was completely aware of the risk I take of injuring or killing myself.

Zsteve 01-04-2010 01:57 PM

Its kinda wierd since he raced you back, so he couldnt be mad about that or he just wouldnt have raced you. Id just chalk it up to him being one As*hole and leave at that.

XBadgerX 01-04-2010 02:47 PM

Would have flicked you off too...

CBRich 01-04-2010 02:54 PM

Seriously guys, Let He Who Is Without Sin Cast The First Stone.

yes, now we are getting into the meat of the issue. I assume that since this is in SC that hair gel may not be involved. Hey, OP, no Obama bumper stickers on your car? That could get him all riled up.

CBRich 01-04-2010 03:08 PM

True ZSteve. SC, so the gel may not be involved.

Did you notice any "heritage" flags? Civil war styling?

oschitt nvm I just realized you are the one in SC, he's in Oregon.

OP...did you have a McCain bumper sticker? That might have set him off.

What he said. God know's I've come across just as much STI douchbaggery. Especially when I drove an Evo.

I agree. On the East Coast, there is more ricer Civics than any other car. Total wannabes who think that having loud/fancy stereos and non stock rims are cool! In reality, its trailer park wiggers.

nogoodname 01-04-2010 03:34 PM

maybe he misunderstood...or something....

when you said something about ur 240.... who knows and who cares

zmyride 01-04-2010 04:20 PM

He had his window up, and you said something to him. Maybe he didn't hear what you said. I would have flipped you off too.

Imagine this. If I had a Civic and I just taunted a Porsche 911. He raced me and beat me badly. Then we both stopped at a light, then I said something to him. All he heard you said is "blah blah blah, my civic is better than your Porsche"

So he rolled down his window and flipped you off. Is he considered a douchebag?

nicknick 01-04-2010 04:26 PM

In the end there is no reason to flip someone and tell them to f..off. You don't know which nut is in the car next you and why would you want to take a chance escalating something that is totally not worth it. Be sure and content in yourself and don't worry what other people do, there are just too many loonies out there to risk ones life.

Horseface 01-04-2010 04:37 PM

Maybe he wasn't actually wanting to race you? Maybe it was just a big mis-communication.

;)

Douchebag drivers in LA:

#1 Mercedes
#2 Lexass
#3 Random riced up cars

Different types of douchery by drivers of different cultural backgrounds. Never had any bother from Mustangs or Corvettes or any of that. Just people driving high end vehicles who have an elevated sense of entitlement, so don't need to follow the law or common sense and kids in Civics who think that a 4" exhaust tip and a plastic body kit covered in stickers makes them into racing drivers.

I never get into any pathetic hormonal coc* measuring nonsense on the road. Just not worth it.
