I ran those times on the stock 19 inch tire's. Can not wait to see what the DR's will do.
In responce to the super charged Mustang, with 550 hp. It will be a quick car, but wait till somebody show up with a twin turbo 370 z. I will bet on the z to be faster. |

Comparing modded cars is typically a waste of time because any car can be modded to go fast.

keeping the conversation to stock cars isn't realistic. Majority of Mustang owners have the stock exhausts off before putting the first 20 miles on the car. However I think you are all overlooking the fact that it is a 5.0 aluminum block. The new shelby350 added a roots blower and they are "in the realm of 500hp" which is only about 88hp over stock. Ford understands that they can't put an engine in the GT that will out power their GT500 for a fraction of the price, Nissan puts forth no such limitations. They aren't competing with other cars in their lineup but rather cost, safety, and engineering standards.

Way to revive a dead thread.
But yeah, assuming the 5.0 will hook it's in another league in terms of acceleration. |

The GT is no slouch in anyway, but I am still not so confident in it's "improved" suspension setup. |
The GT would beat the 370Z on anything bigger than than auto-x course. This car is quite insane.

Tsukuba - would be close between the two perhaps but have you looked @ seca? there are some serious 80 -> 110 sprints where we will loose a LOT of time to the stang. A roughly average speed of about 80 mph (for the track) will not help us at all... You are comparing different animals - what the stang looses in the turns it will MORE than make up for in the straights. |
I could see Tsukuba being close, but the GT will still win.
And yes, there'd be no chance for the Z at Laguna. |

Like I was saying before. A real road track... GT wins 99% of the time. Auto X... Z. |

j/k Actually, now I'd really love to see a Nismo Z (or even sport package) take on a Stang GT (with similar sport trim/packages), and hash it out at Tsukuba! Because I don't think the Stang would win, at least not by a large margin. I think a Z stands a fighting chance. |

Not fair, though, since you have base brakes. |

Well, I'm going to give you a head start and spin you out NASCAR style.
Bump 'n run!!!!!!!! |
LOL.... I dont get why people get so up in arms about their car being the FASTEST EVER!!! Seriously - every year there will be a newer faster and better car in the market. The competition is what keeps the HP up as years go by.
I got my Z for one reason - driving experience - I mean yes she is fast and handles amazingly - but you have to be honest withyoursef and give credit where credit is due. The new stang is one bad MFer - honestly if I had an extra 30k lying around it would be spent on a stang. Ford has done AMAZING things in the last few years and I look forward to Nissan responding. Dont get me wrong - I will eventually SC my Z and make up for that difference - but that debate will go on for ever - what if he SC's his 2011 GT lol |
But my car is faster, done! :p

Well if you want to get an idea of a basic SC and suspension upgrade on the 5.0, look at the Shelby GT350 (don't actually LOOK at it because it's hideous, but check the numbers.) It uses Ford Racing's stage 1 blower (525hp) and does 0-60 in 3.7, 1/4 in 12.0 @ 122, and corners at 1.05G. :yum: |

Trust me I love(d) my Z and want to get one soon (roadster, and as a compliment to the Mustang), but I just love Mustangs, torque, and back seats.

I read these Z vs. X threads initially with enthusiasm because I learn interesting things about other nice cars. But the inevitable focus on the negative (of both the Z and the comparison cars) always drives me out, back to the Motivational Posters thread in the Premium area.
Is it just me? |
^^^ I'm with you on that one...
+1 rep for spearfish - GREAT review. We need more like them! |
I park next to one at work... the GT500 with stock exhaust is scary quiet.
