Any of you get your windows tinted yet?
My car is going to get a clear bra and window tint next week. I was wondering about the way the window drops down a 1/4 inch every time you open the door. I know you are not supposed to roll the windows down for several days after the tint and I'm worried that the tint will be damaged.
I wonder if there is a way to temporarily disable this feature? |
I've gotten all of my cars tinted, and they said that after one night, it should dry up fine. There was an instant where I forgot and rolled both windows down on my coupe and that didn't affect the tint at all when it dried up.
I don't think this is going to be a problem as many coupes out there are like the Z, where the window lowers a bit when you open the door and raisse back up, ie Mustang, G, BMW 3 and 6 series, etc. |

Oh also, don't forget to grab a piece of plastic or hard paper and tape it over your window buttons. Your hands will automatically go to roll the window down. This will prevent accidents. Here's their GAllery Shades Of Gray Window Tinting - Gallery |

Thanks for the info. I won't have a problem remembering not to roll them down, I'm just worried about getting in and out of the car to get it home and then get out once it's there. |

My friend did 40% all around on his '09 STi and they did a custom tail light tint (the stock clear tail lights look awful). He's a picky fucker when it comes to parts and service on his cars. Everything came out awesome. |

If you wait and get your car tinted on a sunny, hot summer day it will essentially be dry by the end of the day (schedule your appointment for early in the day so your car sits out in the sun the rest of the day). I got one of my previous cars tinted in January and it took about 5 days before it was completely dry.

LOL good suggestions. I don't want to wait for another 3 months until it warms up. I do have a second vehicle so I can let it sit in the warm garage for a few days.

I noticed today in the corner of my window that the tint is peeling, I'm sure this is due to the installer and not the window automatically going up and down. I don't feel like taking it back to them, so I'm going to cut the small piece off, it's not noticeable.
I'm on the fence regarding the clear bra, the guys that tinted my windows showed me an example of a clear bra on a Camry. It looked ok. Post pics when you get yours done. http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1143/...dd04cce0_o.jpg I have limo tint on the back window. It really helps, especially when the idiots with the trucks/suv's that stand 6 feet off the ground pull up 2 inches behind you. The strip on the windshield helps a great deal also. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3445/...97fd40c1_o.jpg |

You car is looking good Educ8r! I had the clear bra done on my IS350 and after they put it on the second time it looked fine, and it was a dark blue car. They had to put it one twice because they did a crappy job the first time and got hair and other junk underneath that you could see. These cars are so low to the ground they are going to eat rocks constantly!

Yeah the front of my 350 was speckled, so do the 370's have the self healing paint or not?
