I've noticed some seem much older which could make a potential harder sell. Older buyers usually are more knowledgeable buyers and have more patience and resources. Main question is what are you comfortable at accepting?

I agree, 17k$ unless you need to blow it out for fast cash.

It's the depreciation that will hurt him. The forum has recieved 20 or so new members in just the last week or so...plus old owners are rebuying newer models again. With his being a 10 someone could essentially get a newer model for 17....it just makes it a difficult gauge. Hold at 17 man and if it you get an offer of 16.7 and you're comfortable then jump on it. I think the Z is in an odd place right now. Losing some of the exclusivity and becoming reasonable in price to where almost anyone can own one. Good and bad...but either way man glwts!!!

I think this particular car will be a harder sell, esp @ $17k, simply due to it being an auto tranny.

I think the year will hurt him the most. For even 15k someone can get one a few years newer. I don't know, guess we shall see. I wonder what the ratio of auto to manual is honestly now that you mention it lol

True, but at the same time, somewhere out there is a kid that just got outta college that a bank/finance company is willing to take a chance and will loan them just enough for an older model Z.

I recently went from an auto Z to a manual Z and manuals are hard to find, esp in good shape.

A/T's are quicker 1st-4th gears....nearly 5:1 first gear!

Lol sweet, they can beat me to the next red light.

And manuals are a security feature since it seems like kids (I’m a millennial) these days don’t know how to drive a manual.

Depending on who’s A/T it is & who’s driving,,,you’d only see taillights from 0-whatever.

True man...someone out there will hop on it. I think that mileage is an awesome selling point. He's pretty darn low lol. That's odd..around here (St Louis area) they seem about even. I think the manuals have more miles and the autos generally look better as in condition. I agree finding a clean manual is a bit trickier.

Being a recent buyer, I have a fresh perspective. (as one of the "older" purchasers, as mentioned)

Although I specifically wanted a convertible, the second thing I searched was mileage.
The year was less critical because of the notorious long run of the 370Z.

It was after I purchased that further due diligence revealed that 2012 and later had the tangible advantage of an oil cooler.

However, I'd still buy a 2010 with extreme low mileage over a newer model with substantially more. Adding an oil cooler is far easier than rolling back 50 thousand miles.

My motto is a car doesn't last a certain number of years. Instead, it last a certain number of miles.

17K is not a reach.

Thanks all.....I appreciate all the advise and feedback. I settled for $15.5K for the car. The offers ranged between $14.9K to $15.5K. Pretty consistent for receiving multiple offers. It's a beautifully owned low mileage car but it's still an 8-year old car. Plus as some have mentioned, being an AT would push away certain buyers looking for a Z. With many newer models and a better selection of other brands and options I figured it's best to let go and move on.

Like I mentioned in original post, looking to pay off the house so by putting the $15.5K against my house principle saves me $600 on interest and then add on my state inspection/registration due this month plus oil change saves an additional $200. So adding those costs together I'm happy with the sale.

I wish all well and thanks for a wonderful site and to those who make this site a great place. That's one sweet aZZ !!

He's got extremely low miles. It's funny man my dad always said the same thing about mileage. They usually bought new cars but when he got an older ride he put heavy emphasis on the miles on the odometer.
