370Z smashed into....

So... I have had my 370Z for about a month now. It is not my daily driver, and my first car real sportscar. On Dec. 23rd, the roads were clear and the day was beautiful in Colorado. I was sitting at a stop light, getting ready to turn in to my subdivison after enjoying a nice afternoon cruise, and WHAM, I get hit in the rear end by some stupid redneck in a pickup.

I have not even made a payment on the car yet..... :shakes head:

This next week I have start working on getting the car in the body shop and repaired. I spoke with the dealership, and they have a body shop that is ran by the same company as the dealership and work hand in hand with body/mechanical damage. I don't believe that there is any mechanical damage, but I will make certain they check the alignment and gear toothing (I am not sure if I was in gear or not when I was hit). I was not hit really hard, but they are going to have to replace the rear and the hatch.

Is there anything else I need to have them check on the vehicle? Anything in particular I will need to make certain the body shop/mechanics look at?

I am so pissed about this whole thing that it makes me physically sick when I start thinking of it.

Sigh... thanks in advance

I would be sick, too. That would ruin my day. I'd have to take it out on the redneck's family....lol :stirthepot:

The bodyshop should check for structural damage to the hatch, suspension, frame, etc. I'm assuming they'll do all of that anyway. If they don't and you have problems down the line, I think they could be liable for that.

Make sure your insurance company realizes that this is a new car and should replace any parts with new. Also, don't sign off on repairs until you're completely happy.

I would probably cry...just make sure you dont take back ownership of your car til its fixed properly. I seem to remember a thread where someone got their yellow Z fixed and the paint wasnt blended very well.

oh shitt, sorry to see those pics. hopefully everybodies ok? i would be pist too! goodlck with the repair!!!!!!SUCKS that it is damaged, but it looks like it could have been alot worse.

Too bad man, damn shame. I had someone rear end me in a hatch vehicle. After it was repaired, I brought a ruler in with small measurements.
I measured all the gaps on the hatch, quarter panels, and etc. I found that my driver's side panel had much more of a gap than the passenger side. This is something I likely wouldn't have caught with my eye just circling the car. So I made them take it back and redo it.

Did you ask that dip$hit why he has bullbars on his pickup? Is he trying to run over Grizzlies?

What's that on the ground? Did he break the butthole too?

kannibul 12-27-2009 10:48 AM

Could have been worse...

Could have been a hit and run...for example.

kannibul 12-27-2009 10:49 AM

...And why is it that we're seeing so many rear-end collisions?

We are seeing a ton of collisions in total it seems. With how many of these posts we see, we can only imagine how many Zs are getting hit and the owners are not members, or don't wanna tell anyone.

all the tools out there not paying attention: talking and texting on the phone. we had a semi here awhile back texting while on a main hwy during rush hour traffic plow into the back of stopped cars killing like 9 people.

Dad got rear-ended twice in less than 2 years! He was at the light when he heart tire screeching. The driver had a bad history and was making monthly payments with his insurance. A few months ago some lady slammed into him while he was waiting to get off at the exit ramp on the way to work.

I notice people love to tail gate even in icy conditions.

People just don't pay any attention anymore, small cars are just looked over when you have dumb drivers in huge cars

frost 12-27-2009 11:21 AM

The amount of distractions has gone up, the number of drivers has gone up, and (putting the last 2 years aside) the size of the vehicle has gone up. It all equates to more collisions.
