Incredible...40+ responses to a subjective remark that's not backed up by a single FACT. :ugh2:

I also love how the base coat of the car is actually the same color as the final coat (chips and scratches don't show up that easily!) Wish more auto manufactors would do this! :tiphat:

What color is your car? I'm giessing black.

Mine has a black basecoat with a silver topcoat.

Interstates and highways are usually where all my problems have come from, there is just no way to avoid flying objects on the roads with any consistency.

So what are you saying then? You go O/T in a paint thread complaining about a broken windshield as if it's Nissan's fault?

This thread blows.

That's unfortunate that the paint quality is questionable.

The paint on my RSX is great, I especially like the pearl effect (which apparently is only available on the white Z's). I even have my laptop painted in 10 layers of Vivid Blue Pearl from my RSX--and this thing takes some abuse as my oily hands are constantly resting on it.

I plan on putting a clear bra on my next car regardless of the paint quality. I know it will only help with dings, but it's a start.

The paint is not single stage paint. There is a clear coat on these cars. Very few manufactures use single stage now a days.

Agree with above. Anyone complaining about paint chips on the front of the car does so for two reasons:

1) Never had a low, sloping front-end car before, or

2) Tailgates cars in front of him.

No i'm responding to the fact that you said "anyone" complaining about paint chips is from 2 reasons... I'm simply saying if chips are not 100% avoidable on any car or any kind of paint. Road debris is usually the cause of front end chipping, I've owned 20 or so cars and the best protection is to stay far back from other drivers and to use a bra.

Yes this thread does suck.

I don't think the resale value of the car is going be affected if you paint the car for cosmetic reason instead of an accident with some major damage.

I could be wrong, but I thought all Zs in US are built in Japan....so doesn't that mean it's also painted over there as well?
