Very torn, sell or keep

I have a 2009 370z that I really love. It is the rare smurf blue color and only has 38K miles, of which I own since new. I am consider selling it as I live near a major city and I honestly don't have a chance to do anything with it. It's either potholes or a$$holes around here. I honestly don't get to enjoy it with the exception of the couple track days I go to a year. Money is not an issue as the car is paid off, the garage space is probably worth more to me right now as my other cars sit outside. I was offered close to 16K in trade for the new SUV I am getting. What do you guys think, sell it or keep it? I can probably keep it and the value probably won't move by more than 2-3K given the color and mileage at this point. At the same time, what is the point of keeping something that I don't use?

Looks like you've already made your decision. Sell it and move on.

You've got your memories and in the future if things change maybe I say maybe a newer Z could be in the cards "IF" Nissan ever decides to move forward.

Just my :twocents:

The a$$holes are everywhere, it's society nowadays. Just don't let that one thing be a deciding factor. With everything else, weigh your pros and cons, then decide.

If you need the cash then sell it, if not then keep it. I hardly get to drive mine but I’m happy for it to sit in the garage until I have some quality time to spend in it, makes the drive feel special

Since you're asking ... I'd keep it for the track days.

My Z is the daily driver and sits outside because I have three vehicles in the garage that I put less than 1000 miles on this year. However those three are paid for, give me something to tinker with, and I do enjoy driving them when I choose too.

I've considered selling things before but then I realize I'll just buy something else and what I have is already paid for.

That being said if you need another vehicle (the SUV you mention) your Z isn't getting more valuable. So is space a premium or is the Z just no longer practical?

sell / keep -- will you miss the times of driving it and the excitement... memories are and will always be there..

it really comes down to your personal decision just be sure... if you can afford the SUV without the Z, then keep it and then decided what to do...

Keep, esp if money is not an issue. Better to have and not want vs not to have and want. I have an 09 sport/touring/nav that maybe sees 3k miles/year and mostly stays in the garage. The reason I’m never trading/selling mine is bc apparently you can’t get touring with sport anymore (not in the US anyway). And no one buys a Z for practicality.

Sold my pumped out 69 Vette that I never drove to pick up the Z to drive every day. I miss that Vette but when I analyse how much seat time I've had in the Z since I bought it, there's no way I can regret my decision. I'm over 80k on the Z and I probably would of only put 2k or 3k on the Vette. I should of kept both but than the Z would of needed to be outside the garage these last 6 years. Nah, made the right decision.

Sell it and move on. If you miss it get something better.

To me that's a little different though. A 69 Corvette is a little harder to replace. That's the problem with Old muscle cars, you don't want to drive them just anywhere. If someone backs into the fender or worse yet runs a red light it's not something easily replaced. A 370Z, easily replaced. So I can see how a Z would get driven more. At least that's my take on it.

It is hard to enjoy something that just sits though. Not to mention they are a lot of up keep not to enjoy them.

If you are of older age, and money is not a problem, then you don't need any justification to keep something you like.

Possible solution is to spend some bucks to build a cover over your driveway, then you have added cover space for your other car.

Sell. Use the money to make money and buy bitcoin.

alcheng 12-02-2017 04:14 PM

what is the other car you have as a DD?

I say you should keep it.

although you say there's tons of potholes and a$$holes, but it doesn't mean you cannot drive the Z on the street.

on top of that, you're still have fun on those couple track days, if you sell the Z, those will be gone together and that leave you no fun at all.

on the other hand, you have to weight how much do you need the SUV, or can you trade in the other DD for the SUV instead?

Why have two same type of cars (DD & SUV both passenger car) when you can have two different cars that fulfill two different purpose?

Tough decision after reading all these great points to consider! If you're still on the fence and don't NEED the money, you could always buy the SUV now and consider selling the Z later when your decision is more clear :twocents:
