For every keep reason, I can think of a sell reason

Keep
#1 I have a car I can track with
#2 Car is only worth about 16K, there are basically no track cars I can get that is cheaper with the same speed.
#3 Car has an unique color that I love
#4 Car probably won't depreciate much more, selling it now vs. 5 years is probably only going to cost me $5K
#5 I don't need to sell the car to buy the new one.

Sell
#1 I don't drive the car, it's a waste of money and space
#2 I get myself a garage space, currently my other cars sit on the road. All my other cars are more expensive.
#3 I have no reason for this car except to track it, but I won't have a track worthy car without this.
#4 The car is never going to be a collectible and it is not likely to appreciate. Nissan should have discontinued this car in 2014, they are still making it.
#5 At some point, I will probably need to do some repair due to the age.

I got back in the car today. I would love to take it back to the track, driving on the street is frankly a pain. Also I have about $3K in aftermarket parts on it, I should try to get everything out before I sell it. Since I can't get any tax credit trading it in, I am going to sell it privately. Still, I was shocked at the 16K figure they gave me.

Says it all.

I've had a slew of great rides over the years. My life rule for cars/bikes/trucks is like with shoes - get a new pair, get rid of a pair. Memories will last forever.

Happy memories!

Sell the Z. Invest the money into coke, and meth. Big return if you don't get caught or shot.

Every Winter, while the car sits, I start to think about selling mine. Then, during that first drive of the Spring, I think "yea, screw that noise." If I drove mine as little as you do, I'd probably sell it.

Any chance you'll be moving to a more Z-friendly locale?

cossie1600 12-03-2017 06:36 PM

I am fortunate enough to buy another car if I really want to, but it doesn’t mean I should. This is especially true given the sports cars I get will be tracked. My dd are a little faster than the z on the road, so the advantage of the z will mostly be at the track.

I'd keep all my cars if space and money isn't an issue...

I miss my 350Z, yes. Would have it track ready by now...
Or sometimes even my old Focus for the looks. EU-MkIIpFL was classic.

That said, I will never sell my 370Z.

Mine is driven year-round & i am only at the top side of the "Rabbit Hole" ,,, but plan to make a dive into it over the next few year's/as i really love this car & mods/up-grades are plentiful!

cossie, just make sure to take your time in the decision. Even though I love my current Nismo, I still kick myself in the head for selling my 2011 Nismo. Just take your time.

:iagree: still kick myself for selling my 240z / 84 GTI, take the time and make sure

I don’t miss the 350 because it was Silver, I really like this blue. Still the coil over made the car a pain in the *** to drive on the street. Seriously consider going back to stock too

Btw I turn them down for now, but will sell the car eventually just not now. I can probably squeeze another 2k if I part it out

Regarding Sell reason #2, maybe I misread but are you planning on trading for an SUV? If so, how would that help your parking situation?

I'd say if you have other fun cars to satisfy that part of your life or if that part of your life is coming to an end, sell it. I had the same sell reasons except #2. Just never drove mine after having a baby and had a good offer so I accepted. It's been about 6 months now and I really miss having a second "fun" car. I only have my daily now and while I barely drove the Z last couple years I had it, when I did, the sheer thrill of winding through the gears helped me relax. Did not have that this summer and wish I would've just kept it.

Keep it and screw "the man" no payments (interest) and cheaper insurance, probably cheaper maintenance costs than a new more tech. Advanced vehicle too. Money is only A non issue if you can afford to buy the new vehicle outright. Paying interest doesn't equal financial freedom, EVER!

This was in the list of reasons to sell, but it sounds like another vote for keep it :driving:
