Storing for the winter ?

How many miles did you put on this past season ?

I put on 5,300 mi. this season!
This seems to be average, the car is now 3yrs. old now with 16,300 mi.

Cyber370 11-13-2017 09:12 AM

Unfortunately, I only managed to put 4000 km on mine this season. I'm now at about 8100 km. I need to drive it a little more often but I do what I can. It's probably not even completely broken in.....LOL. I will need to drive it more next year. This weekend I began preparations for storage. I filled the tank with Shell Nitro V (no ethanol), changed the oil/filter and put on a fresh coat of wax. The car cover is going on this week and hibernation begins.......:ohsnap1:

HIZZY 11-13-2017 01:21 PM

I didn't even get over 2,000 miles....

she sat outside and looked pretty all summer....

ashamed of myself

(part of it was because the stock nismo exhaust is wayyy too quiet.... and i was waiting for my F.I. exhaust to come in the mail.... it has arrived finally... but now she is pretty much sleeping for the winter.... they are going to be salting the roads any day now)

srbrubak 11-13-2017 03:57 PM

I didn't get too many miles on my Z either. Put just about 3000 miles on my ride. I bought my Z in November of 2010, just before thanksgiving. I now have 33,235 miles on my 7 year old car. Actually my Z is 8 years old. The build date on the drivers door plate states that my Z was built in October of 2009. It was an early 2010.

Rusty 11-13-2017 10:41 PM

Drove mine from April to July. Then blew out my arm. It will be next April before it comes out again. :shakes head: Think I only put about 2,000 miles on this year.

jchammond 11-14-2017 03:24 AM

I put 15k on mine since last November,,,Getting time to bolt on some all season's & keep it rolling on clear/pretty dayz!

night blade 11-14-2017 06:37 AM

4,200 miles for the year, only 11,600 overall since 2015. Mine's under wraps already, looking forward to next April :).

Mine has been in the barn for a week with fresh oil and gas, still needs a quick spray wax and cover and I'm done

How could you not drive her more, quiet or not....... I can remember your posts leading up to your car arriving...... You were so excited!
Any way you realize the shame of it :rofl2:

Well we all understand the difficultly of driving and shifting with only one functioning arm. Glad rehab is going well and I know with your new mods & a rebuilt arm, you'll be ready to tear it up in the spring

MCDX 11-14-2017 07:39 AM

My '17 has now a bit over 16'000km. She saw a lot of Europe already this year.
Next year will be a bit easier on her, even though now she sounds sweet with her new GReddy exhaust.

For three weeks she has been resting already, washed, filled up and connected to the battery tender. Waiting for a few sunny, dry and warm days.

If the weather cooperates that's great... Enjoy! I'm in until April

Storing for the winter ? Nope Because Florida...One season only :rofl2:

DamnThatZGuy 11-14-2017 08:07 AM

My 09' has 32k miles on it now. I bought it two years ago with 23k on it.

sp911 11-14-2017 09:20 AM

I only put on about 4k since the spring but will probably put on close to 1k in the winter months driving to and from work between snow storms.

ayrton88 11-14-2017 09:43 AM

I don't know how many miles I put on, but the Chicago winter was so mild last year that I never really put the Z away. Once the roads were clear of salt I took her out. Hope we have the same kind of weather this winter. That said, I'm glad I have a Toyota for my winter car.

B&W_Evader 11-14-2017 09:52 AM

Averaging about 13k a year on mine. Love it as a DD.
Only time I don't drive it is when I have to haul something or it's supposed to rain hard.

Airwilf 11-14-2017 11:02 AM

I only put 4000 km/2500 miles on it since I bought it in mid June. Down to 2 cars now, the Z & our Mazda, so I'm leaving the insurance on it in case I need a second car in an emergency or similar situation. Had a winter car last year but sold to the brother- in- law , so we are down to 2 for the first time in many years. May take the Z out on nice sunny dry days as I have a heated garage if it needs a bath.

Have full function of the arm now. Just a little hard to twist the wrist at times. The arm doesn't have a whole lot of strength yet. I'm curling 5 lbs.

Raidernation 11-14-2017 07:18 PM

Hmm winter storage is foreign to us in Cali. Nice weather is the only positive thing here.

marty31 11-14-2017 07:30 PM

I put about 500 miles on my 2013. About 4900 on the ODO. New York winters, not my primary ride and a job that keeps me away from home for a bit. I figure I give it to my son in a few years with less the 10K on it.

You Wouldn't be dis-appointed in a 7A/T-Swap!

Houston is not much different. Except we do have winter, I think it was last Thursday.

Raeshlavik 11-14-2017 09:33 PM

I added 3700-ish miles to the clock this year - a lot of that was twisty mountain road though, so it was definitely worth it. :)

But it's getting time for the Z to hibernate in the nice, heated, underground garage with all of my neighbor's toys. It sits in the same area of the garage as a Hellcat, an Audi S8, and an AMG SL63 - so I don't really need to worry about someone dinging the car with a door...

I tell ya though; coming off of the Z to driving the Jeep, which corners like an aircraft carrier and takes about a zipcode to stop, is always a downer...

Only if it's a dual clutch like what's in a Ferrari or Porsche.

90 ST 11-15-2017 12:38 AM

You guys all need to drive and enjoy your car more...

There was weeks that I put on 3000 miles.

Wish I could. I've been hurt for awhile. :shakes head:

mults 11-15-2017 06:31 AM

Only put on a little over 2700 miles this year. I bought it in August of 2011 with 9100 miles on her and I only average about 2800 miles/year.

I hate not being able to drive it all year, but that's the price one pays for living in the North. Put her to bed in the garage 2 weeks ago with 28955 miles on the clock, but at least I see it every morning and evening when I leave/come home from work...

Hehe.... you’re right. I should be driving it more during the summer. In the winter, forget it! They put more salt down than the Utah Salt Flats. My Z would turn to dust in no time. Can’t do it.

500 miles? Wow I'll be looking you up in 10 yrs. wanting to buy your Z !

crazy4oldcars 11-17-2017 07:12 AM

I put 15,000 miles on her in the past year, but our usual winters are 2 weeks of what y'all would call late fall. No salt, no snow, just occasionally freezing temps and ice every 4 to 5 years.
Our trade off is hurricanes, so don't get too jealous, lol.

I won't be able to touch your Zs mileage, with my daily drivers no matter how long I keep them (230,000 mi.) is my highest, and the body is pretty well shot !

I cover mine so I don't see it daily but..... there are a couple times a year (usually closer to spring) where I'll peel back the cover just to have a peek!

I want to keep mine pristine and beautiful. Also, If I keep myself from driving it for about a week or two it feels like a different car when I hop in it. Never gets old.
