Nothing wrong with the base. I got a 16 base 2 months ago. It was certified pre-owned (was a dealer rental) with 10440 on the clock for $26k.

With everything we do to upgrade these cars as far as performance and appearance goodies, why start with above base model? That was my reasoning, anyway.

Enjoy your new car

Why start out with a model above the base? A sports packaged Z just offers an incredible value vs a base. Why get a base when you can get a sports packaged Z for about 1.5k-2k more? In a base if you wanted to upgrade the brakes/differential you would probably spend about 2k+ not to mention you are loosing out on some of the other things the sport package offers. But to each their own and congrats on the purchase OP I will be looking forward to the next trade in thread

You are right that a sports package is great. I used to have a gun metal 2014 sports package. However, age, city traffic, using it as a DD and finding a trade with a Miata with under $4k difference was difficult.

At my age, it's more for aesthetic pleasure. The Blue color of the car is different from the blue offered in previous years and is quite lovely.

If you'd stop switching cars every 9 months maybe by now you could have purchased a car you actually want to keep ... if it even exists, that is.

Now, why would one be afraid of change? In the last 47 years, I have lived in 8 states and 24 cities (minimum time 6 months, max 4 years), had maybe 25 cars, travelled to 22 countries. I like change, like to try new things. Why the hell would I want one car? I would get tired of any one car within 2-3 years. I parted from one wife (she is a good friend these days) and would have parted from my present wife if it was not for the fact that I have children. Assuming I am alive when my youngest kid goes off to college in about 3-4 years (he is in 10th grade), I would turn my wife into my best friend and move on. Life is too beautiful to get caught in a rut (no matter how beautiful you convince yourself it is).

You would probably be a better fit with Porsche or BMW.

Some folks would never be caught driving a Korean car, some would never sit in a car 10 years old, some would never purchase a car that is American and on.

I would never consider a BMW or Porche or any car over $30k just like I would never consider staying in a hotel room over $200 a night.

for me, it's Japanese sports cars I go for. I would not consider any Muscle car over the Z even if their performance is better. If I could shell out a bit more, I would consider the Infiniti coupes.

You know what happens when you assume? ... Trust me, I'm the last guy to get stuck in a rut. And I've taken my Z off road

If you are so happy with change why do you routinely start the most ridiculous threads debating your life altering choice of which car to purchase this month? Or to complain about some stupid feature or lack thereof (which you should have already known about!!) on your new purchase?

Sounds like you have a good thing going with your life and stuff. Well done. But rather than start up these threads, why don't you just start a SINGLE thread in the build section and keep that up to date with your latest finicky posts. Please.

JARblue,

I couldn't agree more!

I was going to congratulate ZeeBabar on his new ride, but after reading through all of his posts afterwards, I realized ... what was the point? He's most likely moved on to another car, another state, another city ... and most probably another wife and child by the time I did.

Instead of buying a new car all the time why not just save the $ buy one car and when you want change then MOD the car. Different rims, new exhaust, intakes, body kit, spoilers. Trading your car in all the time and wasting money on re licensing your car and paying for taxes again is not the wisest decision. That could've been money to get mods on your car.
