Z intermittently completely dead -- electrical gremlins

I'm at the dealership. They think it's the steering wheel lock, although I pulled the fuse at least 4 years ago. They're replacing it free of charge, so no loss

They think it's the steering wheel lock, although I pulled the fuse at least 4 years ago. They're replacing it free of charge, so no loss there, but I'm still afraid I'm going to get stranded somewhere unfortunate. I'm assuming if it was a fuse, it wouldn't be intermittent.
