In the city or hwy, unless you're out for a spirited drive. I don't really see a reason keeping it in any other gear and keeping the rpms at like 4k, you can just downshift anytime to pass someone and keeping the revs so high is very annoying (exhaust noise and gas waste). In my own opinion, of course

U actually drive in the city (assuming 45mph zone) in 6th?

I will throw it in 6th, as sometimes I'm just cruising 45 for long distances w/no lights or catching greens. ;)

yall are a bunch of *******. I never shift, I just ride in 1st wherever I damn well please, **** the noise. Either that or I just start in 6th when I got a long ways to go and stay that way the whole trip. That's the kinda thing this car was made for...

Hey guyz,

Under normal driving conditions, what at what RPM do you shift to the next highest gear? I think i usually shift around 2200-2500rpm. When I engage the next gear, I'm at about 1,500rpm. Am I bogging the motor or am I OK?

I suggest you watch this:

Threw It On The Ground - YouTube

and start shifting at 6000+.

Vichtz 05-07-2013 12:00 AM

Haha throw it on the ground! I forgot about that gem! But seriously, 2-4k for me while in the city. Higher when doin the 130 miles home

2xtreme1 05-07-2013 01:31 AM

Normal whatever driving, I shift around 2.5-3k. sometimes 3.5k if I want to hear the engine slightly more.

UNKNOWN_370 05-07-2013 10:29 AM

3,300 rpm under normal driving.
between 6,000/7,000 rpm under aggressive driving.

JARblue 05-07-2013 10:52 AM

I redline 1st gear every time. That puts me at nearly 40 mph. At that point I can shift into 6th and save the wear on my clutch :icon17:

But seriously, for me: "easy going" is 2.5K-3K RPMs, "normal" is 3.5K-4K RPMs, "spirited" is 5K-5.5K and "aggressive" is every gear WOT to redline :driving:

LostSol 05-07-2013 10:55 AM

12k rpm all day long.

Really like 4k during normal driving

Chuck33079 05-07-2013 10:59 AM

I shift around 3k to 3500 for commuting. I try to cruise around 2700 rpm or so, whether that's 5th or 6th depending on traffic. If I'm beating on the car, I'll shift a little past 7k.

Wabbyyy 05-07-2013 11:31 AM

7500

JK LOL. Anywhere between 3.5-4.5

Wabbyyy 05-07-2013 11:33 AM

If you're looking for perfect acceleration/speed.

Bandwidth on the z is 7400 so if you are driving aggresively/ racing. If you shift at 7400 it will put the engine at peak.

nmjaxx9 05-07-2013 09:27 PM

Redline every gear, especially if there is a car following me. :bowrofl:
