When I decide to, or when the automatic does it for me.

Either way, goal obtained.

At what RPM are people shifting and what gear are people on the HWY?

I just wonder about when do people shift like 6 rpm on each gear? and what gears are people on the HWY? to meet the most fun of the Z experience. I tend to shift on high rpm, but I always aware of hitting a car in front of me if I miss step on my gas pedal :shakes head:. lately, I love to be on the 4th gears on the hwy, but it sucks my gas as hell, but when I put her on 6th on the highway sometime I feel that her acceleration is too slow to pass someone ,so I have to shift down and our exhaust scream out loud to scare people around there especially when you installed new exhaust and turn on SyncoRev :icon18:

6th gear is an overdrive gear, and as such, is meant to lower your highway/cruising RPM's. It's the only way Nissan could make a claim of 26 mpg highway. If you're trying to pass someone, 6th gear is not the gear to be in. For that matter, 4th gear would get pretty old above 55-60 mph .

cruise in you're tallest gear then down shift when needed. don't unnecessarily cruise around and 4th gear and be "that guy".

Watch this bro. The reverse gear is the most fun gear on the highway!

I'm shifting around 3k and cruise at 6th.

Apoc370z 05-06-2013 09:18 PM

This.

Sometimes I take 1st out to 3500rpm. Don't really feel the necessity to drag the gears out when i'm just driving normally.

When I wanted to save gas I used to shift around 2k, now I just shift around 2.8k because my test pipes makes my exhaust loud as fk at 3k rpm lol. I shift around 2.8k in every gear and just cruise at 6th anywhere. If I want to pass someone I always just downshift and pass, then go back to 6th. In the city or hwy, unless you're out for a spirited drive. I don't really see a reason keeping it in any other gear and keeping the rpms at like 4k, you can just downshift anytime to pass someone and keeping the revs so high is very annoying (exhaust noise and gas waste). In my own opinion, of course

Same here, all gears shifting at 3k and cruise 6 on the fwy.

m4a1mustang 05-06-2013 09:32 PM

Ahhh and this is why I don't like to buy used sports cars. ;)

I shift between 3-4k in normal driving. On the highway I cruise in 6th gear.

mhcoss 05-06-2013 09:39 PM

I launch with 6th gear. don't really need any gear other than 6 tbh
