I had two strap wrenches, unfortunately neither of them provided enough leverage. I ended up wrapping my shift knob with a bunch of painters tape and using a huge pipe

I ended up wrapping my shift knob with a bunch of painters tape and using a huge pipe wrench. It was still a b!tch to get off! One tiny little nick on the stock knob.
