Should I replace my 370z with an STI?

hi my dealer called me today they have a nice 2015 sti in stock, stage 2, 38k km. im currently driving a 370z nismo 2015, 28k km, intake, exhaust done.
Dealer said i can just trade the car.
I def love the z, and love the sti too! and also i live in AB, Canada, the Z is absolutely not drivable in the winter. BUT the Z looks soooo good!
SHOULD I trade the car????
OMG I wish i can have them both.
Can you guys give me some ideas?

EDIT 1: Thank you guys for all your kind words! I really love my Z but it's a shame that I can only drive her 5 or 6 months a year, maybe even less. STI is a good car too, and yes I vape xD/ We shouldn't judge ppl by what kind cars they drive but how they drive. My car history is 328> GCoupe> the Z, all RWD. Really tired of how rwd drive in the terrible winter even with snow tires. Sliding every corner is fun but not fun for 6 months. I hate have to drive my Q7 or truck everyday in winter. I will talk to the dealer about the price of sti and trade in value.

DeliriousClam 07-03-2017 07:31 PM

This is my personal take on the two

370z: Driver's car
STI: Boy racer's car

Trips 07-03-2017 07:43 PM

Take the STI and when you get it out of your system come on back :icon17:

DeliriousClam 07-03-2017 07:46 PM

If you're going to go this route or similar, I'd go Focus RS or Golf R. Might be a little more but imo so worth it

cooltoy 07-03-2017 08:05 PM

My question would be - is he trying to get rid of the STI, or does he really want the Z?

If the answer to both questions is yes, then why do you want get something he is trying hard to get rid of, or why give him something that he really wants (which you already have)?

Simple answer...

NO

OhioYJ 07-03-2017 08:31 PM

Snow tires? My Jeep sat in the garage all last winter. The Z did just fine with a set of snow tires on it.

I think your winters must be different than ours in Canada. There is NO WAY our Z's are anything but horrible in the snow up here.

cloudofevil 07-03-2017 09:06 PM

I bought a beater to drive in the winter or anytime I don't want to drive the Z.

victort 07-03-2017 11:01 PM

if they give you cash on top of the STI, then yes. if not, dont do it

Ventruck 07-04-2017 12:35 AM

No don't. You're gonna be a SSUSusuuuu--suuuuu-baaa----ruuuu-UUUU driver. You're gonna be the type to switch out of the slow lane only to drive side-by-side with the driver in front of you, slap on bumper stickers about I <3 Earth and some extremist liberal stuff, inexplicably have a bike rack on your car that you never use, take full stops at intersections on hills while people driving manual Z's behind you are left to suffer, eat pistachios, obsessively watch the Discovery Channel, keep the radio set to NPR, have an "emergency poncho" in the back seat, never take more than one passenger, flip the car over at some point, drive into a lake, drink kale smoothies, never take showers, pour milk before the cereal, don't even the drink after finishing the cereal, all this stuff:

Trust me, you don't want to be a goofy Subaru driver, ever.

Chan Chee Hoe 07-04-2017 06:09 AM

Subaru WRX Sti not the Same class as the Fairlady,1 is a Sports Saloon,1 is a Sports Couple....Only the Subaru BRZ came close with our Z,only if Subaru put the STi engine in it.

I'm sure they are milder, but I was quite impressed with the difference snow tires made. Back when I drove my Mustang daily I never had a set for it, and there were times, I couldn't get the car out of the driveway. My Jeep is all over the place all the time in the snow. However this winter with the Z (which is my daily driver) the snow we did get it was actually great.

I've never known anyone to just want to trade something that was an even deal. Generally trading is the way people get rid of basket cases / things they can't get rid of any other way.

I managed to drive mine with bald tires in the snow. It wasn't easy but it was doable

This!! why would you do a straight up trade? if the dealer is even offering that than they definitely think they are getting the better deal...no CAR salesman is ever just looking out for your interests

I have a few younger friends who own STI's, drove their cars and could not ever think of downgrading to a Subaru...but to each their own...:driving:, best of luck OP

PAYCO 07-04-2017 10:39 AM

Life can be full of regrets, don't put one on the list by doing this.

DamnThatZGuy 07-04-2017 01:04 PM

If you get the WRX you will also have to start vaping. It's just what WRX owners do..

Don't do it!

They are money pits. Every single part that goes on it means you need to pay to get a tune. It's a never ending process. Trust me! in just over 6 years I went through: 5 sets of tires, 5 sets of brakes, 3 turbos, 4 tunes, and then....3rd gear grenaded itself (5 speed 2007).

Lets see: I was pulled over 5x, only one of which was I actually driving fast, the other 4 were "warnings," and the constant every stop light someone wanting to race got old.

I think the re-sell however is going to be better than the Z because people want 4door awd vehicles in the northern states, but, what would you rather look at and get into every day? The Z is actually a beautiful looking car that doesn't look like just another 4 door on the road with random over-styled lines running everywhere.

I say keep the Z, get a cheap used wrx that someone already sank their life savings into instead, and don't beat the crap out of it unless you want to buy a new transmission, or find a used older sti with the 6 speed that can take some abuse.

XD forgot about the multi quote thingy. I would really love to keep the Z but looks sub is a better option for a country with half year heavy snow. still debating myself like should i spend another 20k to slam TT on the Z or just trade an STI and call it a day/

Well i just looked up the two cars and looks like the Z is selling for an average $1500 more than the STI depending on packages...I hope if you do the trade that you get a little something out of it...just because the STI is stage 2 shouldn't mean anything..just hope buyers (traders) remorse doesn't hit you if you do it

you can always buy a beat up truck for those harsh snow times

The thing is sti in Canada is a bit more expensive than the Z cuz the weather. But I'll take your words. Thanks.

Homegrown 07-04-2017 09:16 PM

Yes replace it, the 370z is a heavy piece of sh!t

BGTV8 07-04-2017 09:54 PM

I came out of an Sti because is was a pig-understeering PoS that you had to manhandle to get it to go fast.

Z34 is a different beast altogether.

I'm not so good at cars, but as I know Subaru STi and Nissan 370Z are in different categories. The former is a rally car whereas the latter is a sports car.

So I believe it just depends on your preference.

xcomms 07-05-2017 05:02 AM

Just do it.....

If you are still considering this horrible idea just do it and let the Z end up with someone who will appreciate it and not trade it in for some goofy looking Subaru! :shakes head:

Absolutely this. If you have to ask you're obviously not a Z enthusiast. I couldn't imagine giving up a Z car, whichever generation it was. Even if I came into money and could have any car, I'd still have a Z and just do whatever I wanted to it. There's nothing special about the subaru, whatever stage it is lol. They almost always end up being annoyingly loud, horribly stanced, flat brimmed boy racer vape mobiles.

brizzie35 07-05-2017 09:00 AM

only if cash is on top of the deal

BC416 07-05-2017 09:22 AM

Nah - the STI is the new "me too" car. I can't drive damn near 5 miles in any direction without seeing one.

tonythetiger 07-05-2017 10:14 AM

dang so many sti haters in this forum, why not just get both? lol jk if your gonna get one, get a low mileage stock, non modified sti with warranty in case theres issues with the motor
