Should I replace my 370z with an STI?

Don't get me wrong, the STI is nice but I were looking at a Subie, I would consider the WRX and tune it rather than go with a STI - the WRX has the newer and 'better' engine whereas the current STI has the same engine as the previous models. Probably could mod a WRX for much cheaper than a STI...just my .02
This 100%. I won't hate on the subie as they are pretty nice cars but the STI was pushing it from the factory and there are more than enough people that have had ring issues stock. So if you can't give the car 100% without fear that's it's gonna blow then why even bother with that much power since you'll either a have enough money to cover it when it blows (in which case your lucky and by all means buy an sti) or b you'll hold back or won't ever think to track it because you'll worry about what if it blows, at that point you should have saved the money and got a wrx. The new wrx is a much better and newer engine with fairly close power, your talking roughly 30hp stock which isn't huge and also isn't nothing but a wrx with a tune could bring you even nearer and will put just as much smile on your face all the while knowing you aren't on an engine that's already expired (Asian sti is already on the newer engine). As for RS or golf R I can't speak for fords euro branch but vw I would stay away from.

At the end of the day they are both good cars. I prefer my z but my friends wrx is not a bad car, another friend destroyed his new sti in a matter of months (ps the gas mileage is way less than advertised in real world driving) but it seems to be a car that encourages getting on it but then can't take the repeated demand.

Golf R is a nice car. My good friend has a mk7 r with a stage 1 tune and it has gobs of torque. I just can't bring myself to pay that much for one though. Same with the STI.

Not dogging the STI but why ask this question on a Z forum. We're all on here because we're Z enthusiasts. If you're not, by all means, best of luck with the STI. I'm sure it's a solid ride but I'm not about to tell you to sell your Z to get one. In the end it comes down to preference. I love my Z and wouldn't trade it for anything short of a Ferrari but if you don't feel the same, perhaps you should go for it.
