So a small update. Ive put about 110+ miles on the new lsd. It is amazing. No whining or any noise. It feels very similar to the vlsd for daily driving. I have a track event coming up in Sept. So I cant wait to test it out.
OptionZero - When I was shopping lsd I was considering the OSGiken, even Z1 said I should go with that. But it seemed like alittle more work for me. So the Wavetrac was right up my alley. Low maintenance and better than the vlsd. Someone had mentioned the car should have came with this. And I cant agree more.

Yes, a number of our veteran users here have OS Giken. Check out the track section and search for "giken" and you should get a bunch of feedback.
It does heat up so it needs a diff cooler. Hardware isn't that bad it seems, but some wiring is needed. You can do an on/off switch or attach it to a temp sensor to trigger at a certain mark. All told, it's another $1,000 on top of the diff, plus you have to use OS Giken fluid and change it every year or so. Performance wise, it's awesome, but effort is high. Wavetrack is a compromise. Drop it in, no cooler needed, fluid doesn't need to be swapped nearly as often, and streetable. I have a VLSD (came with the nismo), which is fine for now since I'm still learning. Next season I will look into stepping up to Wavetrac or OS Giken. I think I saw you at Thunder Hill - were you at Speed SF earlier in July?

I've got Sonoma on 8/3, i forgot that it's actually closer than T-Hill and very fun from what i remember. I was there 10+ years ago in my S14
T-hill is wierd to me. The turns don't flow together in my head as easily as Sonoma did - i think i played Sonoma so much on Gran Turismo, I picked up the rhythm much more easily Buttonwillow is the one that totally messed me up. It felt so flat and clunky

So while the Braum seats are nice and all, you do get what you pay for, I'm seeing some wear on my driver seat after 6 years? (damn i guess i've had these for a while). So I will be re-installing my stock seats once my dad brings the driver seat from their house.
I ordered the CZP shifter boot collar ring which im amazed and glad they decided to do a 3d printed solution. I have a brand new OEM shift knob coming in because i'm just feeling very boring and my original one is long gone by now. I also have brake fluid and coolant fluid tester kits on the way. I'm sure i need to replace the coolant, but I'd like to just have those tools on hand. |

I'm not sure about the yearly oil change in OS Giken LSDs. I have one for 3 years now. I did the first oil change after 500 miles, as break in procedure. The second oil change was then done again after a year, because I swapped the final drive. Next change I plan after 20K miles or so. Also, OS Giken themselves are saying this: Quote:

GoodNewsEveryone.futurama, I checked the coolant quality with one of those test strip kits and the levels look great! So I will hold off on doing that maintenance. If it aint broke, don't mess with it.
I also received my digital brake fluid tester and the brakes are still good, which was expected since I went to the Z1 calipers last year. The clutch fluid needs to be swapped so I'll work on that this weekend. Sidenote, I'm glad i went with yellow for my new brake calipers. It gives the car an original look. They clean up really well too. |

I picked up my R200 housing from diff specialist today. OS Giken LSD hiding inside. I decided to deal with the extra effort because sliding the car around is occasionally important to me and I don't mind changing fluid more regularly.
Can't wait to get it bolted back in and rip some skids (on the track). Car's been on axle stands for a number of weeks now sorting things out and waiting for parts. |

I want to put an OSG in my car, but it'd be a waste considering i don't really track it anymore.
What's not a waste was the effort spent on putting my stock seats back in. I'll contact braum about a re-upolstery kit, if not ill take them to a local shop to put some quality material on them. I also managed to install the shift boot collar and stock shift knob. The upside is that i'm almost down to zero DTC codes, just the power steering pressure switch and the passenger airbag off light. The latter is because the dash was taken off so many times that the harness broke. I need to find that connector. |

Yeah, I'm probably to going to have to buy a full or partial body harness for the dash to replace what i need and i'm not THAT committed. Maybe when i decide to replace the top portion of the dash I'll do it. I already have the PS switch sensor in the box full of parts that go with the front-motor maintenance (water pump thermostat, hoses, gallery gaskets, etc). Again, I kinda don't want to break the seal of that motor if nothing is wrong right now.
