Metric fastener grading is a little different. 5.6, 8.8, etc. I'm not certain about this specific bolt, but I'd suspect it would be case hardened.

It's not a metric bolt though. 1/2"-20
Edit: nm... you said metric grading.

Well actually. The picth appears to be the same on these things, but the bolt itself is about half a millimeter wider. These aren't going to work.

I was thinking it's was a bit odd to have a standard fastener on a modern car. Particularly one of Asian origins.

Yeah, that was my thought as well. But apparently, an M12 1.25 bolt will thread intro a 1/2"-20 nut... just not the other way around.

That should be a 12mm x either 1.25 or 1.50 thread pitch. The car is metric, so a 1/2" - 20 would be totally wrong.

See if some store has a thread pitch gauge and get one in metric & SAE. It will save accidentally destroying a bolt...

It was M12 1.25... they all were. Bracket bolts, caliper pine, lug nuts. I got the right tap and die and chased every one of them. Car reassembled like buttah.
